Today I found an old Pac Man table arcade game in a Japanese restaurant for sale. Only $50 so I picked it up. I've no idea if it works. Nothing happens when I plug it in, but I'm guessing I need to flip a switch on the inside of the coin mech, and they didn't have the key.

So what's the easiest way to get that door open? It looks like a standard arcade lock. Please tell me there's a better way than drilling through the metal lock.

I can post pics if needed.

Maybe pick it..
I saw some links on the internet once about how to pick a lock..

Look for another way into the cabinet..(a screwed on panel)

You're better off just drilling it since you are going to need keys anyway. Once you drill the tumbler out, just take a punch to pop the back off.

There's a hinge on the back of the table. But there's nothing to pull on and prying doesn't seem to work. Anyone know how to open the back, or do I need to open the front door to do so?

Nevermind. I need to release clamps inorder to open that. Since I don't seen any other panels that look like i can open them, I guess I'm left with no choice but to drill.

Thanks guys.

I drilled it open. Things seem to be in good shape in there. Unfortunately apart from the fan turning on and it making the Pacman "waka wake" sound when I hit the credit button, nothing else works. This is a shame because I don't think I have it in my unknowledgeable self to fix an arcade cabinet made before I was even born. I posted asking for help on KLOV. I'd be thankful for any suggestions you guys have as well.

I'll post pics later if I get it working.

It's just a Pacman cocktail cabinet. Which is not to say it doesn't look cool, but I wouldn't exactly call it rare either.

At any rate, it turns out the game itsself seems to be running fine. I was able to play a game on it but of course without visuals I died rather fast.

So all I really need to know is what I can test to make sure it's just the monitor that's broken. I should probably just assume that's the problem as I heard that most original Pacman monitors have died.
