Is it me, or is anything related to Metal Slug is non-existant in every single God-be-damned SNK boards?

You need more contrast in your shading.

Dark darks and a pure white highlight. Especially in the first one, the solid gray tone youve got going flattens the whole image out.

Proportions on the soldiers arm in the second one is a little small.

Most of the items he is carrying are floating and dont seem to have any weight to them.

Enjoy.

Don't take any advice from Nesagwa, he can't draw. He's still really cool though.

nice drawings. i like your use of lines and shadows. the first one is a bit too soft though. could have used more dark colors unless that was your intent. overall very nice. ill try and scan some of mine but i dont have a scanner and am currently searching for an on-campus one.

Thanks for the comments. Most of them are quite old, almost a year in fact, and I haven't put much work into them.

About the contrast thing that most of you mentioned, it's kinda hard to control the output when I'm faced with using a mechanical 0.5mm pencil with 2B lead in it.

i really like the slug in the last one. turned out nice. has there anything been photoshopped? the motion of the slug's gun (or whatever it's called), for example?

Buy a pack of drawing pencils, they are like 10 dollars.

Yes. The Vulcan has the blur effect applied. It came to be rather horrible.

You make it sound like as if money pours out of the sewage pipes. Can you spare me some dough?

If money is an issue, post your paypal address and take up a collection. Nesagwa is right, however, I must say I like it just fine as is. You may be able to tinker with it in photoshop as a test to see if *you* like it better with more contrast.

If you like to draw you should be willing spend money on supplies, it's as simple as that. Just go to Staples and buy one of those boxes with a hundred pencils like Nesagwa said. Should last for a while and it's not really expensive. The lack of contrast is really hurting your work IMO.

Another thing I'd like to comment on, is on you coloring your stuff. If I were you I'd concentrate more on the line work and figures first and less on color and shading. A lot of people like to work on both thinking that their work will look more 'complete' if it's colored or shaded, but the overall piece ends up looking unfinished because neither the coloring nor the line work is handled properly. Concentrate on one thing and then expand from there after you've got a decent grasp on it.

Nice work, I like the ones in color better though. Probably stands out more to the eye. It may not be your style but I'd recommend making darker lines and ease up on the soft sort of tone you got going...just for kicks.

PS I <3 metal slug hentai

Nesagwa's comments pretty much sum up what could be improved, but those are really good.

Had a wonderful idea, but got too lazy in the end to finish it up.

So this remains to be a simple abandoned sketch in my artbook for eternity to come.

Alot of improvement man. Alot more natural looking than the old ones.

If I were you Id just play around with some dramatic shading and maybe ink / color as an experiment.
