I have an 26" LCD TV and it has a RS 232 port on it. Does anyone know what this input is for?

my PDP has one too...
my guess is it's for firmware updating - you connect the thing using the cable and upload the firmware... ?

Its for interfacing with a computer so you can control standby, power up, channel select etc, perhaps at programmed times, like a virtual remote control.

It is possible it may also be used for firmware updates on some models.

edit- does the user manual not mention it
