Hi Everyone,
I'm in the process of aquiring a Jamma Cab' with a Neo Geo One Slot converter. Can anyone tell me which of the early, cheaper games are the best? I like most types of games, and have a full NGPC collection, so I've already gone out and got Fatal Fury and Metal Slug 2 for the MVS. Which others should I look out for?
Cheers.

Metal Slug 2... you rich little...

heh Jk

Anyways, Metal Slug 2 is going to suck, with massive slowdown, but it's still a nice game. If you like Ikari Warriors, snag NAM 75 ASAP. Or don't. Your call

Samurai Showdown is the ultimate near-launch title. I hear you can pick it up for about 10$. Which is still pricey to me when you can get the vastly superior Samurai Showdown 2 for 15$ or so

World Heroes has beeen universally panned as horrid by most people I know, but I still found it to be a fun diversion from when I was playing Street Fighter 2 Turbo

If you liked Saturday Night Slam Masters on the Gene/SNES/Arcade, snag 3 Count Bout.

Art of Fighting [2] is/are great game.

BASEBALL STARS 2. Don't ask, just play.

League Bowling is, oddly enough, a explitive blast. Play it in mass quanities.

King of Monsters was OK. Avoid the sequel like the plauge lest ye loose your temper and snap thine MVS board to purge it of the evil which is this awful sequel. A 1 player game, that only gained success in the original for it's kick arse 2 player action. GREAT idea. :P

I've heard things about Super Spy. Things.

That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Anyone?

You should check the "MVS Price Guide" on this site. I got KOF96 for 16 bucks, and the machine came with "Stakes Winner". Man that game sucks, good thing I got KOF96 to keep me busy till I get Metal Slug 1 or some other game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Metal Slug X basically MS2 with extras??

As far as cheap early carts go, Sam Sho 2 is a must. Most of the early KoF's can be had for pennies on the dollar, although you will find executing moves in '96 to be a real bitch with arcade sticks. The Real Bout games, while certainly not early, are stupid cheap as well. I have all three RB's and didn't pay over $30 for any one of them.

Um...SenGoKu? I liked that one. King of Monsters I would agree with RDS777 is a lot of fun. Just set the timer really high so there's no rush to pin anybody. The original Metal Slug is AWESOME buta little more expensive as far as MVS goes. usually about $50 (How great is that though!)

Executive moves?? You mean the "Pow" moves?? Like Terry's Power Geyser??
If so, I think they're pretty easy, infact easier with a stick.

To add to the topic, if you plan on building a good Neo collection, you should get a bunch of the cheap carts first, then get the more expensive ones later.

Hey Maxim, if you are looking for something cheap and fun, I happen to have an extra Samurai Shodown 2. I'm not necessarily trying to sell it actively, as I much rather prefer trades for something I don't already have, but since you mentioned you only had Stakes winner and KoF '96 at the time, I thought I would offer it to you. I would prefer it went to someone that would appreciate it than to someone that would simply stick it in a drawer. LMK.

How's $15 sound (plus shipping)? It has the mini marquee too, although it does have some yellowing from sunlight. If not, no biggie. I just thought it might be a nice one to add to your budding MVS stack.

Best MVS games for the buck.. here's my list.

Last Blade - easy to find under $50, and a great game.

Real Bout Special or 2 - both are around $30

Sonic Wings 3 - Great overhead shooter and only about $50

Puzzle Bobble - If it is your thing, grab one cheap for about $40

I would stay away from the older games at first, they are dirt cheap, but hey.. you have a cool new arcade machine, don't put those dated titles in their so your friends laugh at you

haha, just kidding, but for the price Last Blade and Real Bout FF Special are awsume. Also any of the Samurai Sowdown games are under $30 and are all cool, my personal favs are 2 and 4.

My friends all thought I'd lost the plot anyway, When the MVS arrives it'll just be more retro crap to them.

Well The cab still hasn't turned up, but I've managed to get some games!
Metal Slug 2
Fatal Fury 1st
Puzzle Bobble
Samurai Showdown 1
Pop 'n' Bounce
and Windjammers in the post!
Havent played any of them yet though, which is mighty frustrating! Ive never played the MVS versions of SS1 Pop 'n' Bounce, are they any good?
These things are hard to find in the U.K!
And what is really frustrating is how cheap they are on the U.S ebay!
Cheers all!

Pop 'n Bounce cheap on ebay?
Since when did that happen?
If this game is sold on ebay then it will probably go for 200 $.
damn now you mention it 200 $ is kinda cheap if you're used on buying rare home carts

Now that you have an MVS you can buy the best games that are too expensive to own on home cart:

-Waku Waku 7 (The most fun fighter out there!)
-Magical Drop 2 or 3 (both of these games kick ass if you like puzzle games, I like them better than bust-a-move)
-Metal Slugs, need I say more?
-Shock Troopers, 2nd to Metal Slug
-Samurai Showdown 2 & 4, the best of the series

Stating the obvious but the metal slug games are all games no neo fan should be without.Of the older games ive always rated
baseball stars, to me its just like real life cricket,so much options for batting and bowling and the A1 is great.Last resort has one of the moodiest soundtracks in gaming history, and its a top drawer shooter too, Art of fighting 1 which you should be able to pick up for a tenner is an example of a teal beat em up.Other excellent titles, Sengoku, King of monsters 2, nam 75, and Burning fight.Andrew Baker at Arcadeheaven. www.arcadeheaven.co.uk
has most of these titles.Good service too.

Hi Metal Slug,
if you are interested I have Pulstar on MVS cart currently on UK Ebay for £40,this includes original marquee, instruction sheets and dip switch settings sheet.I live in london.
It's a great shooter to own and takes a long time to master and has some of the coolest graphics on the Neo hardware.
