MVS Machine questions..

I have a few questions - I'm new to this..

My family owns a general store and we're looking in to placing an arcade cabinet or two in here, along with a pinball machine. Automatically I figure SNK would be the best cabinet - as I could have not only a multi slot machine, but awesome and interchangable games for a good price! Obviously SNK seems like the best choice to me as I could cover several genres very easily with excellent games (Magical Drop, Metal Slug, KoF...)

Anyway, I just had a couple questions, and I'm sorry if this is in the wrong spot - just let me know for the future.

First and foremost, I see a guy offering a cabinet on the internet (it's a business in NC) for 600 dollars. It's a 6 slot cabinet, but he says it doesn't have the logic board in it. What does this mean for me (I'm new to MVS hardware, too)? What would that cost? Does that mean it doens't have the core MVS hardware? If so, how much would that set me back? Essentially, what would it take to get that machine going.

Also, is this a decent deal? Would I be better off buying a second hand cabinet somewhere else, or building my own coin-op cabinet?

I'm just looking for some information on the best way to get in to the ownership of a cabinet or two and where would be the most affordable place to do so.

Anyway, I appreciate the help, thanks!

Basically it means you're getting an 6-slot cabinet minus the 6-slot board. Just like you said, you will be missing the MVS hardware. The 6-slot board alone will set you back at least $300. Consider this, if the machine was working, why would anyone take out the board on a perfectly good machine? I suspect the cabinet has other issues and problems. For $600 you're better off buying a working 4-slot for that price.

Excellent - that's what I thought. I really appreciate the input - do you have any idea what the best course of action would be to secure a cabinet? I mean, a particular retailer, second hander, eBay, scouring local vendors, or what? I'm trying to avoid super spending as I know this will take ages to pay off, since no one will really play it but my friends and I. It's more of an experimental technique.
