This has haunted me for quite some time now. I think about this game every oce an awhile, but anytime I do researech, I know just a description of the game, and search engines are no use. So, I thought I would tap into the collective minds of the Neo Geo folks to see if you could help me. Alright, so here goes.

First of all, the game was a huge enclosed sit down game. You would go into a booth of sorts. You went into the machine (booth) and would sit on a bench. It was rendered in real time 3-D. You have four controllers for four players. It was a rails shooter, but in first person (you didn't see your ship). It was in space and you shot tons of enemies on screen at once and big space ships. All four players shared the same life bar that was located at the top of the screen. The screen was huge stretching from one end of the machine to the other (it looked like 2 or 3 screens put together). As far as how big the machine was, it was big enough to sit four people down side by side comfortably with a ceiling of about 4 feet I'm guessing.

Well, that's about all I know about this game. If anyone has any clues, it would be much appreciated as it's one of the last arcade mysteries I've have.

sounds exactly like Galaxian3, and it's sequel Attack of the Zolgear. Although these games were 6-player, not 4-player.

I actually did play Attack of the Zolgear at the Riviera in Las Vegas back in like... '96 or '97. They were only charging 50 cents for it :kekeke:

Holy crap, that's it!!! Thanks so much man. I think it's one of those, but they both look the same. Wow, brings back so many good memories. Now I can stop racking my brain to find out what the game was. Thanks again man.

Wow. I never ever would've imagined an arcade machine costing 1 million dollars, much less 3. Heck, the initial costs of the Virtual Reality games barely broke over $100,000 for the entire group of machines they had on display. Partial thanks to having inexpensive hardware to drive the graphics (Amiga machines), so all the money went into the motion detection and goggles. Those seats, in Galaga 3, don't even look like they even move. (I'd expect the whole song and dance for that much money.)

They were thinking that Galaxian 3 would take the world by storm and that the arcades would live on forever. (I doubt the arcade scene even lasted long enough to remotely recoup the costs of buying that thing)

Having one of those things is simply making a statement of how rich you are.

In its earliest development, Galaxian 3 was designed to be a theatre experience with up to 30 players playing at once however the technology and the costs were very prohibitive for its time so it eventually became a 6 player game with twin laser players. When it first came out in Phoenix years ago, the arcade was charging $3 a play for it
