I have an Olympus Digital Camera. It's about 2 years old. It uses the Flat Smart Cards. I noticed everytime I insert the memory card or cards directly into my laptop to view photos, I always get "picture errors" on the smart card whenver I put it back into my camera to re-use, and it causes me to lose photos. Last night I viewed the photos directly from the camera via USB port and didn't get any "picture errors" on my smart card. So does anyone know what causes this? I'm a total rookie when it comes to understanding how memory cards work etc....
Is it the Memory Cards or is the LapTop causing me to lose pictures? Ocassionally I save my photos to my Laptop and re-format (delete photos) from my Smart Cards. Thanks

My wife sells digitial cameras and she has had this problem also. The fault was with the card reader on the PC rather than the card or camera in her case. She could rescue the lost pictures though by using some software called PhotoOne card recovery.

Another cause of this is removing the card while programs are still accessing the smart card. Don't take the card out while the pictures on the card are being viewed on pc software for example.

Thanks Raz,

I will stay away from the Laptop card reader. I always wait until I close my programs before I remove the memory cards, but I appreciate the advice. Also thanks for the info on the Software. :)
