was there a true Pulstar 2 in the making before or after Blazing Star?

My memory is VERY vauge on this - I seem to recall reading two or three times, somewhere, either magazine or internet (probably internet) that there was a true Pulstar 2 game in the making back in the 1990s. it was either before Blazing Star or after Blazing Star. definitally for the original NEO GEO hardware, not Hyper 64. It would either be MVS, AES, NEO CD or all three. Does anyone have the story about such a thing? a genuine Pulstar2.....

being that Irem has put out R-Type Final for the PS2, I don't expect another new R-Type game to come out (not counting rereleased ports on compilations and such) so I feel that the only hope for seeing another R-Type-like game made by one of the R-Type teams is if we get a sequel to Pulstar or even Last Resort.

I was not a fan of either PS1's R-Type Delta or PS2's R-Type Final (Delta was better)
since I tend to hate 3D polygon graphics of any style (2D spritage forever!)......... I'm dying for a new 2D sprite R-Type (not going to happen) or more realistically, a new Pulstar or Last Resort.

the SNK interview in another thread gives me some hope that old SNK games will resurface. I hope they're highres 2D and I hope SNK Playmore doesnt forget about horizontally scrolling shmups.

thanks man :D

ok, i've learned something about the topic of my post.... sometime around 1997 or so Pulstar 2 was in development, then got renamed Pulstar Blast.... then it disappeared off the radar screen and by 1998 or so, Blazing Star emerged.

Pulstar 2 / Pulstar Blast = Blazing Star? maybe, maybe not.

maybe some elements of P2/PB were incorporated into BS but there's no evidence of it.

man, I really want to see what P2/PB was like :(
