Strange Reset Problem

Just received a JP AES system that works wonderfully and appears to be in great shape, but I've noticed that when initially playing games, the machine will reset itself a few times before it settles down and works normally. I own four games and it's happened with all four.

Troubleshooting:

Since it was resetting frequently, I thought maybe the Reset button was loose or too springy. Before purchasing my system, I had no experience with an AES console, so figuring out how "normal" the Reset button was supposed to feel was a little difficult.

"Fatal Fury Special" was especially goofed by the problem. Almost like rapid-fire resetting, the game wouldn't settle down at all 'til I turned off the console, repowered and pressed the Reset button a couple times. ...then it was fine.

I even tried turning the console upside down to see if maybe that would help. (The button is so loose that it's always engaging the reset function even when not touching it?) It didn't help any.

Current status:

All games I own will play once I get around the initial start-up. I played "Samurai Spirits 1 and 2" for a good amount of time and there was no phantom resetting. Even "World Heroes 2" doesn't reset itself during gameplay anymore. (It did when I first received the game. I'd play for ten or fifteen minutes or so and it'd suddenly reset to the start-up screen! Quite a surprise!)

Have any of you experienced a similar problem? I don't feel, at this point, that I need to send the machine back to Japan (where I bought it from) for a replacement/refund, but the problem I'm having is a bit annoying.

Hmm, one of my older AES systems reseted sometimes like that. Open your system by removing the rubber stubs on the bottom except for the one that you can't feel a screw hole under. Usually it could be a few things in particular:

1)Bad Grounding - Check and see if the screws holding the Mother Board are tight especially the one near the AC plug.

2)Loose wire or bad AC adapter- Check for all wires inside the system and see if one is really loose. Also check the AC adapter plug in the system for looseness, see if you have other adapters that have the same exact specifications to try. Of course there will be a difference on 100volts to 110volts (The volts is not the cause of the problem by the way).

3)Bad cart connection - Try cleaning the carts and also use a tooth brush that is slightly wet with alcohol and lightly clean the cart slot of system. Then let all dry for 10 minutes. Also try pulling the carts up just a slight notch after inserting all the way into system.

If none of these methods work then you probally just got an unstable system component wise. I say send to Jeff Kurtz for a good fixing. The problem could get worse with use later on.

I have that problem with my system to a lesser degree, mine happens only on rare occasions (thank God). What's your AES serial # CharlotteBMM?
