I have both AES & MVS versions of Art of Fighting 2 and the boards for each are totally different.

MVS is:

PROGGSC with V1, V2, V3 & P1
CHA256 with M1, S1, C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6, C7 & C8

AES is:

PROGRKB with V1, V2, V3, P1 & EP1(EPROM)
CHA256BY with M1, S1, C1, C2, C3 & C4

Any explenation for these 2 different chipsets?

Yes both are the same. I'm just interested about the 2 different chipsets. Every AoF2 AES I've had has had the same chipset, but I've never seen an MVS version before so was just curious as to the differences.

I'm guessing it's just an alternate chipset. I repaired my MVS fatal fury special (the ep1 chip was cracked in half). I had to use an "alternate" mame set to burn the new chip from because the regular FFS doesn't have EP1 in it at all.

I don't have a clue as to the purpose though. Last minute bug fixes?

cheers,

SNK probably found a glitch in the game somewhere and released later AoF2 games on a new chipset.

Possibly I guess. I have 2 SS1 chipsets, both different.

The EP1 is an updated version of the game code, it probably fixes some game bugs or glitches. It basically replaces some of the code on the original P ROM.
