GNG was excellent!

Back from the event. The free swag included a Fatal Fury cap (a la Terry), trading cards, and a couple of posters. I was there for only a half hour because was WAY too crowded for all of the people. I didnt stick around to see if any of the SNKP reps showed or for the tourney (if anyone went, please mention what went down).
I've finally seen the new backgrounds included in the PS2 ports of the Neo fighters. People rag on how the old sprites clash against the slick BGs but it didnt bother me. However, Metal Slug looked like shit. I dont know if it was the monitors or the port itself.
Note to the Gamers Night Groove Staff: Please, PLEASE try to find a more spacious spot in the future. The Energy event at BMCC earlier this year was perfect in terms of size.
There were three SNK/Playmore reps attending the event. There was a HUGE line outside of the store when the place opened up. Throughout the night, we could have easily had anywhere from 300-400 people walking in and out of the space. I brought my NGPC with me, and was very surprised that I was able to find someone else who also had one with a bunch of games! It was unfortunate that we didn't have the same titles, for he did have the link cable and it would have been great to play Match Of The Millenium against someone.
It was very crowded at the beginning, but after 11:30pm the crowd started to thin out a little bit. By the end of the event, there was still a good crowd there but there was more elbow room. Managed to play a few rounds of KOF 2002 with Team China and 2003 with Athena/Terry/Yuri and despite the evil X-Box controllers (which I started to get the hang of by the end of the night) I was able to get around rather well. The tournament in KOF 2003 was also cool, as Empire Arcadia donated some Mas Systems joysticks for all to play on. TONS of people showed up for the tournament, which lasted almost the entire event. It felt really good to be back in the tournament atmosphere again, with all of the people cheering and jeering the combatants on. The reps of SNK/Playmore donated prizes to the two finalists which included anywhere from 3-5 X-Box titles, some collectors coins and other stuff.
I got a chance to speak to the Playmore reps and suggested them to do more events like this for their home releass, ESPECIALLY if they were to have US releases of NGBC and SSV. I really think they were impressed with the turnout and had no idea that there was still a good fanbase for these games still out there. All in all, a great evening and one of the best GNGs I can remember in a while.
And after so many years of playing SNK games, I can finally say that I have a Fatal Fury cap!!!
