Hello,
I've seen a French documentary about SNK's Metal Slug Series, at one point they show this thing::conf:

detail of the front:

It was in a carton full of SNK related items (art, fliers, games) that SNK JP sent to them to help make a documentary.
So what is that thing? It seems like a prototipe or evaluation/debug board, but of what? It can't be the NEO-GEO since it doesn't have a gigantic cart port...
Anyone has more info?

During the show they also show this:

This was taken at SNK's JP Headquarters, so is that SNK's own Phantom Adapter?

Hi... based on what the man who filmed this documentary said on a french forum:

The first thing is an adapter to display Neo Geo Pocket games on a television set. They used it for the documentary.

I asked the question about the strange adapater on the AES, and they said that they don't really know what is it. I think it's a custom adapter to play MVS carts on an AES console (like the Phantom).

It seems that this thing has a second connector on the front... so maybe they used it as a development tool, too...

Thanks for the explanation!
The fact that it could be NGP stuff never crossed my mind :emb:

You're welcome...

This documentary is very good, by the way... they also made anothe one about arcade fighting games and the retro-arcade shops in Japan, which is really good too...

They had to send everything back to SNKP afterwards... too bad they couldn't keep that NGP adaptor, which is a nice collector though ;)

That NGPC TV adapter is sweet! Too bad somebody didn't try and produce some of those off of the proto. I'd buy one! Some lucky bum in Japan is probably sitting on it at home, just watching it collect dust... :crying:

EDIT: I just got a closer look at the pictures... the serial # on that NGPC adapter is over 110,000!!! Are there really that many around?! That would be friggin cool!
