I am just doing a little research to see if there would be any interest in consolized CPS2 A boards. If so please let me know. Thanks

Not many details as of yet. I am still in the process of doing one and will have pictures up in a few weeks. It is something I was just thinking of today, because there are a number of great consolizations being done on MVS, but I have never seen anyone do it for CPS2. I will be able to do it in two different ways. I will be getting a number of american CPS2 "A" boards in the near future, and will be able to have those on hand to mod. I will also be able to have people send me their boards. As I said though, I am still working on getting everything together for one to take pictures of and I will post them up here as soon as possible.

Thanks for the interest and stay tuned.

it has been done:

and there was another which Butta owned (might have sold) and I think was made by RiotoftheBlood (inside a modified/custom painted computer cabinet).
still a great project to undertake. good luck and keep us informed!

Thanks, Raz pointed that out to me also. MKL did a kick ass consolization on it. I thought I would give it a go and if things go well, then I would love to make a few more to find other loving homes for.

I'm also in the middle of a cps2 consolization project... one of the main issues I had was trying to figure out where to put the psu... I figured out a way to do it though ;)... it just won't be as skinny anymore.

Hey stuffmonger, do you wave any work in progess pictures. I already have the A board, but I am in the process of gathering all of the other materials I need. I would love to see the pictures if you have them.

I think this is the only pic I have at the moment > http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v207/stuffmonger/DCP_0131.jpg it shows my placement of the power supply... the neobitz (once I get it, will also go under the A board, and I plan to have standoffs from the A board to a plexiglass sheet base. In my design, you actually can't see the wires from the power supply at all unless you open up the A board (as I've run the wires through the casing ;)

After looking at MKL's work. It got me thinking that I would prefer to leave the jamma edge connector, kick harness, and audio jacks in front because I would still like the flexibility to use it in a cabiniet or supergun if I want. Not sure on this though. That is the beautiful part about custom consolizing is that you are set to one set of rules about how it will be done.

Would it be possible to consolize a CPS 3?

Interesting idea. I am sure it can be done. I just have never messed with the hardware personally to try it. If a person was determined enough, just about anything can be consolized. That might be fun to look in to.

I'd give my left testicle for a consolized cps 3 with 3rd Strike. I'm thinking that the hardest part about it would probably be making it so it's feasible to change the infamous suicide battery without too much trouble, or (dare to dream) get rid of the damned thing altogether.

I don't really see the point in consolizing a CPS3. First of all it lacks an external case, so you would have to mount the stuff on the surface and leave everything open, or build some sort of custom case. Swapping games would be a pain due to the CD load, although you might want it for only one game (there's only 6 anyway and possibly only 2 or 3 are worth a damn). Then we have the suicide issue, and overall prone to failure hardware.
Personally you are better with a cab or supergun, or even teh ports.

CPS2 on the other hand looks like a very interesing board to consolize, pity there's region compatibility issues though.

The region compatibility makes me wish that the U.S. had scart as a standard over here. It would be alot more economical to do a consolized cps2 if it did need a rgb convertor for us american gamers. On a side note, what would be a good inexpensive scart compatible tv or monitor I could get for testing european consolized cps2s ? An amiga or commodore mointor maybe ??

If I lived in US I would create a small box that converted RGB into s-video or whatever using an encoder, and use it with all my superguns and consolized units, possibly using a db9 connector so it could also be used with a scart cable if needed.

cps1, cps2, and naomi ALL use carts, except naomi also has a gd-rom with some different games than the cartridges (also has some of the same)

cps1 doesn't really use carts, the Q sound ones are single units, and only on some of the regular ones you can swap the top board between games. cps1 games are usually sold as a complete unit.
