ok well I'm getting somewhere using my gamecube power supply though I never did test the amps because I really had nothing to test it with.

So anyway, my jrok LED comes on when I power it up, but once the jamma harness is connected, it goes off.

Any reason this would happen, is the jamma harness trying to draw away too many amps?

if so I guess it might be time to just use a jameco psu :(

Seriously, why experiment with a gc psu? Too much hassle and work, while the fully adjustable arcade psus are only $20.

^shrug because it'd be neat.

Anyway I've determined that when hooked up to the jamma edge and jrok the 5v just goes away, both at the jamma edge and to the jrok which would explain why the light cuts out. Has to be turned on then off to come back.

So, am I to assume that somehow its overloading the board I'm drawing the 5v from? (yet not frying the board)

Still looking for some help ;)

Did some more trouble shooting by disconnecting the jrok power, and I get the same result of losing the 5v at the jamma edge when its powered on connected to the a board.

With more testing I can actually get the jrok led to come on with the right touch on the jamma edge (not completely seated though) and the fan on. So is it possible something is getting crossed when completely on that's causing this? All my ground wires are tied to the same ground is this a problem?

you want to used the built in power inlet, right?

i'd try to open up both power supplies (sc200 & ngc) and to replace the cord. i just had a look at mine, but i'm not even sure, if the official ngc psu has 3 pins for +5v, +12v and gnd. a replaced cord should look fine, tho.
or ... if it really doesn't fit, then you could just cut the cords off, solder the ngc one to the sc200 and put some flat black heatshrink on.

Yeah I had wanted to use the original but I don't think I'm getting enough amps from that power board to power the cps2, so I'll just put a 5pin din in there and buy a jameco :)

I don't think I can just swap them out either as the gcn one only has 2 pins, +12v and gnd
