Coin 2 = 2 Credits?

I noticed something strange regarding my MV-4F playing Samurai Spirits 2 (probably irrelevant details). The coin2 wired up to a button on my joystick panel (to mimic free play) places 2 credits while the Coin 1 only places 1 Credit. Under the Test mode I discovered that is the default setting.

My question is this, what every game uses? Is this what every board like CPS2 and Naomi use? If so what does a cab do? splice the Coin1 to both coin doors. I feel newbie-ish but I assumed that the second coin door on a cabinet would be wired to COIN2.

P.S. I can change this setting, but it and difficulty settings etcetera are lost if system is powered down for five+ hours, is this normal or is there a dead battery of some sort.

All help appreciated.

Those coin settings are settings of the bios and not the game. Basically the euro and japan neogeo bios default to this setting. I actually default the unibios to 1 coin for both coin shoots.

Basically the setting is for cabs that take 2 different coin types (say 10p and 20p in the uk).
