Stupid questions ahead:

I just got a 4 slot mvs board, and all of the games (and debug) are in japanese. How do I set the language to english?

Also, what do the 8 dip switches do?

Thanks in advance!

You need a new bios chip. Get Raz's Unibios. It will solve your problem and so much more... Now don't say I never gave you anything!

Oh I forgot to answer your dip switch question. I forget, but the only one that matters is good 'ol #7! It turns on freeplay. If you are worried about putting a new chip in, it's easy. Just pop the old one out and push in the Unibios. If you bought a 4-slot go the extra yard and get it. It is so cheap, yet so incredible.

Yep. I knew I wanted it when I saw it, but it didn't seem that big of a deal. Now that I have it, I can't imagine ever living without it. Razoola is the man. When he makes a new version, he'll upgrade yours for free too!

Dip 8 is pretty important, it pauses the game, but that doesn't matter if you're getting the Unibios. The first is test mode, but you have to hit the test button so it doesn't really matter. The others are for setting up four coin slots or other useless junk.

Not sure what you mean, but there's only one unibios, it works in all MVS boards.

As it's been said, DIP 1 enters test mode (useful if you don't have a test button), DIP 7 enables freeplay and DIP 8 is pause. Don't bother with the rest, leave them off.

You have a JPN 4-slot, hence the JPN text.
Dip 2 turns on Vs. mode. It is very useful. Allows for both players to have their own credits if the game supports the feature. I always have Dip 2 and 7 on, unless I wire up the coin chutes.

When you order from Raz it asks what board it is for. I'm not sure why.

He wants to make sure that if you have an AES, MV1-C or MV1-B you know what you are getting into.....

Thats correct, the bios is the same no matter what hardware you order for. I just like being sure people understand how install can be alot harder on some systems.
