If I remove the center restrictor plate in my sanwa stick, but put the rest of that assembly back on, will it damage the stick AT ALL?

I ask this because the square restrictor plate feels weird in my sanwa and I'm not sure how long Himura will take to get me an octagonal...

Removing the plate will not damage anything. The only thing, you need the restrictor plate to keep the PCB/Microswitches in place. I don't fully understand your question, but as far as damage, you will be fine.

I should've worded that better.

the square part of the plate pulls out, I'm wondering if I'll damage anything by removing it.

No, the square plate is the same as the octagon plate.

You remove the whole piece.

the square gate has a 4 way option(imagine my surprise when I put my HRAP into 4way mode and forgot then a day later playing CvS 2...), and a removed option.

i'm wondering if there's a downside to the removed option.

You can't use it without a restrictor plate can you? I though it held the thing together?

on the restrictor plate, there's a square gate in the middle and it's removable. I wanted to see if there was any downside to removing it.

I just removed mine and everything's fine. n/m.

I'd still rather have an octagonal plate.

I like square plates
I don't.

it feels all weird when I'm trying to do QCF motions.

I need a octagonal plate because pushing the stick in any of the four cardinal directions in games Gundam vs Zeta is weird.
