Hi. I'm making some adapters for another member on the forum, and one of the boards he gave me to make an adapter for was wonderboy. I'm almost 100% sure that it's a bootlegged version, but I'd like to be sure, so I can confirm to the other member that it is in fact a boot (I figure people should know... even if it's not something they want to know). Here's some pics.
-note that there are no trademark stamps or anything designating the pcb itself as a sega product.
-also note that the only branding on the pcb itself is "OAK", which can only be seen when holding the pcb up to a light source (it's inside the pcb layers)
-note the obvious flux residue
-note I wouldn't expect sega to have anything like that going on (but it could be a repair of some sort)
This is pretty much a dead giveaway to me... I've never seen this sort of wiring done... on anything.
more suspicious "fixes"... and a VERY poorly done solder joint at the capacitor (it's broken... what a surprise
)
VERY sloppy soldering... that would shurelly be caught by sega's quality control department.
and last picture that I think I'll take (but not the last of the suspicious wiring), cutoff socket pins instead of sockets of the correct size.
As I said before... I'm almost 100% that this is a boot, but I'd like to be absolutelly sure before I tell the guy that it is a boot. Thanks.
