yours must have been defective when you bought it, just didnt notice. Mine has seen a lot of pop-in pop-out the PSP (i have the game since japanese launch) and it never had such thing.

So i d say, if you bought it in USA, bring it back to your shop and even if they don t give you one in exchange, they will repair it, and if they damage the game then they will have to give you a new one :D

It's the UMD not the system. The PSP is the best piece of Sony hardware to date.

I disagree with you there, the PSP is fragile. The screen is easy to scratch, The analog stick is easy to break, the square button is off-center, early PSP's UMD slots pop open when held at a certain angle, and they are riddled with DEAD PIXELS!!! I really must have gotten lucky with my PSP because mine works fine, but still. Sony's best picece of hardware is the Slim PS2.

Are you sure your going with the slim? The laser on the slim is made out of shit and is known to just die out on people.

Let's face it, none of Sony's gaming equipment in any form is as sturdy or reliable as either Nintendo or Microsoft.

Here... Here... I've seen more defective Sony consoles than any other although that Sega handheld, the GAME GEAR is right up there in my experience.

Yeah I'm going with the slim! The original Playstation and the old style PS2 are much worse when it comes to laser malfunctions. I would say the PSOne was the best, but the PSTwo can play PSOne games too, so it's the best.

Only had 1 Game Gear, it always worked. Had like 5 Lynx at the very least, because they'd break all the time...

So, the rough translation here is:

"The PSP suffers from a multitude of problems making it an inferior system. But my system (and yes, I own one despite the horrific flaws with it) doesn't have any of said problems, it just means I'm lucky."

*cough*

Right.

Fragile? Are you kidding me? The damn thing along with my ibook come with me every where I go, and I beat the crap out of the thing. The only protection I've put on that system is a screen filter and the damn sony sock. It holds up like a champ during my daily trips on the bus and subway. Hell, I've even carried it in ::GASP:: my pocket! My screen has little to no scratches thanks to the screen filter, and the like 2 dead pixels you can only see in the dark when the screen is totally black. The analog stick? It's all I use for the NES games I have on it, and I play those constantly. The square button is slightly off-center, that I'll give you. Plus, can you give me the angle at which the umd slot just pops open, cause this is the first I've heard of it and I know a lot of very happy psp owners other than myself. HOLY SHIT, we must all be lucky because mine and everyone else's that I know works fine.

I only use the cleaning cloth and pouch that came with the value pack, and nothing has broken. Hell my screen doesn't even have an scratches on it. Nothing is wrong with my sqyare button and I never really tried to break my analog nub so I can't comment. The only thing wrong with the PSP is waiting until Fall for some games to play.

Most fragile system ever to hold, and my battery cover moves around when I'm gripping it which is unsettling.

I really don't like the system.
