Because it's better. And say you aren't at home and without your Notebook(if you have one) and you think, "I wonder what's going on at neo-geo.com." Well you load it up and check it out. This is of course if there are some hotspots around you. Hell if you just wanted to look somewhere else. It's one of those features that a lot of PDA's and Cellphones do these days and if the PSP can do it, it's less things I have to carry.

I'm probably going to wait a week or two before updating but having both a web browser and WPA functionality is a big plus. Now they just need a mini keyboard and I'll be set. 
I'm really not interested in homebrew apps to play roms anyway.
