I just bought cartriges of Metal slug 4 and metal slug 5 for my 2 slot arcade. I wanted to have them work to switch between the two so I can play them both. For some reason, they aren't playing. I tried putting them both in at once, didn't work. I tried with one regular game that I knew worked and MS5, and it only played the game that was already working. Are these Metal slug games just too new to work on a 2 slot, or do I need specific "MS4" or MS5" motherboards for them?

Most likely the Carts Connectors need to be cleaned real well..

Do you know what Bios chip the motherboard has in it...?
I personally can't get Metal Slug 4 and 5 to work right(after cleaning) in my 4 slot motherboard with version 1.2 Uni Bios Chip.

Otherwise ONLY after a real good light sand paper on the carts contacts+91% alcohol cleaning with the work /work together in my US bios 4 slot mother board.

The metal Slug 4's cart casing was causing the cart to go into the mother board way to tight..so I did a little shaving in the carts case(been doing this/experience) to give the carts boards a "slight" wobble.and it fits in the mother board real nice.
Metal Slug 5 had the desired wobble I like in the carts board in case so I had no problems with it After cleaning as it goes into the mother board real nice.
