Just giving BOBAK, Shawn himself... or any of the other mods the heads up that I have created this new account for myself and am starting from zero (yet again, the 4th damn time), as I was tired of the MERC account and no name change seemed to be an option as usual. Thus if someone could disable the Mercenary X99 account that would be great as I'm sure no one wants me having TWO accounts at the same time.

#1> Honestly I've been tired of the whole "Mercenary X99" thing. Sure I'm still the same xXx Hardcore rock em' & sock em' take no prisoners kind of guy both offline and on... but I came to hate the name. When I originally took that as a screen name (callsign) it was because I fancied myself as the Hustling "Merc" that I still am, now things are different. I'm King of my own house and have a kid on the way (a daughter Fyana) that other than the rudimentary basics of survivalism and self defense both armed and non armed... well I don't intend to teach her more than that. One of me was enough, unless it's destined to be that she wants to know more and chooses a rugged way of life it has to end with me. My way of living and acting out is truly an anachronism, but I know no other way to be and don't much care to be anyway else. #2> I've always related to THE BEAR as I have a deep kinship to them (part of my indigenous side coming out) and it's the one animal I'll never hunt. Thus Grizzly King is far more fitting than the whole Military schtig.

...trust me you'll get used to the GK persona quickly enough, ppl made the transition from MegaDrive 20XX (not the one @ Sega-Spetsnaz.Com either) to Mercenary X99 rather easily and most don't remember me as Stormrider_2977 anyhow. Like I said I'm still MILITANT as heck and will still throw down if a fool gets up in my face offline or on, but I needed a change. I'd have rather not had to abandon 4,000 + posts and my ranking but this place doesn't allow name changes, though there are more than a few who it's been granted to and no one says fucking shit about it. And I'm G.K. everywhere else on the net anyhow, time to consolidate with my Ebay handle and Sega-Spetsnaz persona.

but I also don't think a name change is order nor does it have any effect (case in point, my old roke stAr name was pointless)

I agree with you 100%, but it's not like I wanted to abandon my old account I just wanted to change the name. I seriously don't understand why it's even an issue in these parts. There should be an option to change your call sign after you've been here a year or more, and then you have to wait another year or so before you may have the option for a set amount of days in which to do it in. But whatever... at least I get to be B.Jenet's First Mate again

Sure, though it'll probably be awhile after she's born of course. I imagine I'll only be able to log on in the wee hours (assuming I'm not pooped) to chit chat though. I'm actually looking forward to fatherhood. Didn't think I would but strangely enough my feelings on things are changing a lot within. Heck I'm glad it's a girl too, if it have been a son I would have subconsciously tried to mold Harlock (yes the wife and I were going to name him that, other possibles were KEOMA or Grackus "the invincible" but teh wife likes Harlock) into the next generation super survivalist and expected more out of him. Not so much in being me per se' but I don't think I'd have been as melted. Grandpa Grizzly (my dad) already has bought a double barrel shotgun and named it after my daughter and plans to be there when Joe Anybody comes to date my girl. *Of course I'll be nearby with the AK as well. All kidding aside though... it's going to be great. I'm a big kid at heart and will raise my daughter to be the most well rounded person that my wife and I are capable of, while encouraging her to be "inquisitive" versus devisive... and learn to see life as one big adventure.

Basically by 2011 I'll be the rugged "I'll kick your ass" version of Clark W. Griswald, but that's cool.

Coolness man. Though I rarely go into Chat simply because no one ever seems to be saying anything, or there is this massive amount of LAG which makes no sense to me seeing as how I'm on a damn DSL connections and not 56K

Anyway, in cases like this of well-established members, I think mods should allow name changes as long as this feature is not abused, say only once in every 1-2 years, and writing the previous name in the custom rank.

I'd have settled for that, but it seems one must lose both their Join Date and Post Count/Ranking and start from zero if one wants to change their callsigns. If I were to actually be regiven my original join date + all the posts I've ever made it be somewhere in the ball park of 6,770 posts but oh well. I'm going to enjoy just posting my way back to where I was is all. I don't mind getting to be Mature's Love Slave, B. Jenet's first mate or an IKARI Warrior all over again though. (at least I think I made the rank of Ikai before... maybe that was "Guerrilla Warrior" ahh, fuck it!)

Hell Alot of members here HAVE had their names changed or altered.

Even me. All I had to do was wait for a cataclysmic coup attempt by neogumby, and then suck up to him, and beg for him to change my name and he did. ( I was CurtWRX, then renamed Curtsuberu (by Neogumby I think), and then he finally changed it to Curt at my request.


Point and case. If I can get my name changed. You'd better fucking believe Mercenary X99 should be allowed to change his name to Grizzly King if he damn well pleases.

I think just about everyone would agree "Grizzly King" is one of the best members, and a serious asset to this little bulletin board we call home.

I miss the old Merc.

But anyway, for a lawless, assbusting, backwoods cowboy, you sure are kinda flaky about the whole name thing. Look how fucking gh3y my username is, but I don't give a fuck. Even if the name is funny as hell, it eventually becomes just an identifier. I think you should stick with Merc, Merc.

That being said, you're a cool dude, and if you really want the mods to change it I don't see why you should be denied.

There may have been good reason for some of the renaming in the past, but personally, I'm against name changes in general, all this identity swapping only causes trouble with deals and irritates quite a lot of members.

I will never agree to changing any screen name whatsoever, specially when it is about cosmetical changes like in this case here.

It's taken me this long (I've been debating the name change because I had to start from zero AGAIN) to make the switch. @ CURT, I did ask BOBAK if he'd change it for me but said there'd be too much heat from the MOD Squad thus I didn't press it any further. My name was changed once by an unnamed MOD (not Bobak though) from MD20XX to Mercenary X99, but a few of the members, including one who posted in this thread went batshit nuts over it and it was quickly changed back... yet a few (like yourself during the neogumby thing) had theirs changed and no one says fekkin' shit. I'm passed the point of really giving a fuck though, I've started from scratch and prefer Grizzly King and will just have to start humping my way back to the rank of Kyokugen Trainee is all. I really would like my (15) positive Trader Rating somehow linked appropriately to the Grizzly King account though since I don't know how to go about that.

I think the reason Wes said no comment was because he changed his name from Songohon awhile back (from zero post count/ranking) whom I believe might have been here before me originally when I rode into NG.Com in May of 2002, and he didn't get the fanfare I have about him getting his name changed. It's actually off of WES' good attitude that I'm like: "Oh well what the hell if Zangeif the baby killer can start from scratch so can I."
