According to Naruto on MMCafe, http://neo-arcadia.com/ posted an article that states Sammy/Sega is ditching the AW hardware, and moving on to newer boards.

If that's true, that was a pretty quick death for the system.

No, they have annouced they are making a new board based on the Xbox 360 hardware though. House of the Dead 4 is running on it. They never said they were through with Atomiswave.

Of course, if you want to have a Neo wet dream, you can imagine that the NBC delays are due to SNKP being left with no choice but to port the game back to the MVS hardware. ;)

Well, the scene aint what it used to be because Playmore is stupid in not doing shit seperated around more genre's. Or creating entirely new games for existing ones.. They gotta seriously hype a brand new title based on the SNK idea. Its like the beatles and sgt peppers.

Neowave bores the shit out of me. JD's in a KOF is weird. I still prefer 98 and 2002. I need some damn competition in neowave, but of course nobody plays.

That's not true HOTD4 runs on the new Lindburgh board, which isnt based on any next gen console.

I'll get killed, I've been playing really badly lately. If its a xbox port I'll play, it'll be mainly 2002.

I think this means only one thing...for SNK Playmore to make their own system. :D

That’s gonna be kind of fucked up if they delay NGBC to change it to another system.

- Sega confirmed that its new Lindergh arcade system is not based on any next generation consoles, instead it is powered by Imagination Technologies' high-end PowerVR graphic processor.

- Sega mentioned that they don't have any plans to release console ports of the upcoming arcade titles The House of the Dead 4 and Virtua Fighter 5, both games will run on the next generation Lindbergh arcade system.

Yep the Atomiwave board will be forced out just like the MVS board was forced out by the Ne0-64.

Sega has NOT abandoned the Atomiswave system, don't worry. NGBC should arrive on time, and then there's SS Tenka and Metal Slug 6 coming within the next six months or so, and Rumble Fish 2 is selling well. Extreme Hunting is also the most successful Atomiswave game yet (sad but true) and continues to sell. This hardware is way too cheap and convenient to let go of so early.

I don't think that Sega would do that if the games and Arcades are selling well.Besides I doubt very much that SNK would've made the move to the AW with out making some precautions.I would be nice however, that Sega dumps the AW and SNK picks it up for themselfes. Then we would have the new (MVS)

I can't seem to find the article on neo-arcadia, I don't think it exists. Can this Naruto person read french?

EDIT:
ok, got this from the arcaderick site
Atomiswave - Production Stop
16.07.2005 um 12:48 Uhr
erstellt von: ArcadeRick

SEGA(SAMMY) said that they would stop the production of the Atmoswave Cabinets.
Atomiswave System production will be stopped in the future too.
KOF 11 may be the last title.

as I said, it was anounced on the ArcadeRick website. I'll find a link.

but here is the quote:

so.. its open to certain interpretation. the statement claims that there will be no more productions of cabs - and in the future no more productions of the system itself. but this is a given - there will be a point where system production will seize - this does not mean much. maybe this guy is reaching his own conclusions based on the first statement. maybe this is pure speculation. maybe not.
but the installed base is probably good enough (since the market has shrunk and there is therefor a finite amount of demand in theory) that they can sustain a business model with just releasing games without producing more systems in the near future. just a guess.
