back on June 30th I bought a complete AES system which was supposed to be a matching #s boxed setup with no cracks on the balls of the controllers. when I got the stuff the #s didn't match plus the balls on the controllers had visible cracks. another thing was the fact the the A/V cable included was not for this system. I contacted the seller and was told they had the cable and it would be sent asap. a week had passed and nothing. no contact what so ever. I contacted the seller again and then was told that he was selling the system for a friend and he ordered me the cable from someone on ebay and is having it sent to me. to this day I still don't have the cable. I'm a pretty lenient person but I paid 260.00 for this and I can't play it plus I don't even know if it works. I understand people have jobs and such but to go 2 weeks with no contact is unacceptable. I feel like I'm getting jerked around since contact was excellent until I brought up these problems. actually the only things I asked about were the matching #s on the box/system and the cable.

now my question is - how much longer should I wait this out? as of right now I feel like I just bought a 260.00 paperweight. should I just chalk it up as an expensive mistake? should I just move on on buy myself an A/V cable? do I overlook the nonmatching # mixup? this member has good feedback so I really don't know whats going on here.

Buy yourself an AV cable and be glad you got your system.

First of all, I think that you should have gotten what was sold to you (matching #), if not, there needs to be adjustment for that...

Also on the AV cable, you shouldn't have to wait 2 weeks for it, since you paid for it and should have gotten it in the first place.
If he can't provide you with one fast enough, ask the seller if you can buy the AV cable yourself and have him reimburse you the costs.

I hope that you'll work this out.

What member is it?

I'm sure we as a community can get you a refund, then you can get a different system.

Sounds like you were lied to and cheated.

I'm still waiting for the day someone tries to scam me... hasn't happened, I'm lucky.

here are a few pics of what I got:

I'm still trying to get the controllers to photograph properly with my camera. as soon as I can get the other stuff photographed I'll post them as well.

and here is how everything was described which is why I bought it:

Up for Sale is a like new near mint Japan AES System. This system is in almost perfect condition, bright gold, dark black, only flaw is a 1/2" scuff by cart slot. The box is in excellent condition, comes with all foam, registration cards and manual. The serial number is 331637 i think but ill double check, i definately know its 331xxx which means its one of the latest versions. Serial numbers on box and system match. I even have the baggies and ties. Im selling it with 2 AES old style joysticks both in excellent plus to NM condition. No cracks on ball and bright gold lettering yet not mint, very minor flaws. joystick still clicks and all. Please pm me with offers. I dont have a digi cam so i cant get you a pic but i have many refs. check my feedback. also, im a very hard grader. I have never had to have a pic to sell on these forums before. Im trusted. If i say its excellent, then its porbably a step up, like near mint. I accept paypal only. thanks

I really don't want to mention a name just yet because this problem could end up being fixed soon(I really don't know) but I'm sure most of you will probably know exactly who this is since you guys have been here forever compared to me. another thing that I never got which was stated above was all the baggies and ties. a little thing I know, but it shouldn't have been listed if its not really included. if anyone wants a pic of something I haven't shown yet let me know and I'll try and snap off a pic.

EDIT: I don't even care that much that the controller balls have cracks and such but I really did want a matching #s system. at this point my fear is that the system may not work since I have no way of testing it since I have no A/V cable.

I'd say it's simple- what you paid for wasn't what was described. At the very least, you need part of your money back from the seller, since you were paying for things that would increase the value that weren't actually included (i.e. crack-less controllers, matching serials, AV cable). The condition wasn't as listed and you didn't get what you paid for.

That or you should get a refund with the system shipped back at the seller's expense.

so what should I do exactly? should I contact paypal? the seller seems to give me the run around when I call him since all I have is a work number. he hasn't responded to the email I sent to him or my PMs. thats another thing, I still have the PMs when I was double checking on the matched numbers for the box/system. it was stated there as well that they did.

I have no clue really on how I can get back a partial refund. the seller could tell me that he will and then just ignore that as well. I recently won myself an A/V cable on ebay so that was an extra 10.00 that I had to spend since I figured I wasn't getting one from him or his friend. I have no problem with keeping this setup but I don't feel that the 260.00 I paid is worth it. I could have just picked up one on ebay for less and took my chances that way.

the seller stated on my first contact that it was possible there was a mixup and that I may have been sent the wrong setup and that he would look into it and get back to me. he just never did though. maybe I should just post all the PMs.

**edited to fix was to wasn't.**

It's pretty much cost/benefit at this point. I guess if I were you I would try to balance whether it's worth the hassle and irritation of trying to get the money/some money back or if you would just rather blow it off, assuming the system works properly with the AV you have coming.

For that price, I would assume that you'll try to get some $ back. Since you've tried to get in contact with the seller, you may not have much choice but to post PMs from the seller in order to get his attention. Dude should pay you at least the $10 for the AV, and then a little to cover the non-matching serials and the cracked sticks. That's my opinion, anyway.

It sucks to spend that kind of cash, really be looking forward to something, and then be let down big-time when the package finally comes in the mail.

yeah. I really don't know what to say though. he was great at the beginning. he PMed me to answer my questions pretty quickly. he kept me informed about shipping. he gave me tracking #s. he was a great seller. then when I enquired about the nonmatching #s and the incorrect cable he said he would check on it. I recieved a PM stating that they had the correct cable and it would be sent out asap(this was on 7/7). that was the last I heard until I called him last week. he then told me that his friend bought a cable on ebay and had it shipped to me. I don't want to make a big deal out of this but I do want to get what I paid for.

as far as I know he may be on vacation or something. I just don't know.

Last year I bought a Nintendo DS from dbarrett0928.

He advertised it as new, but it definitely wasn't. Tried to return it to him and get my money back but he refused. I definitely won't deal with him again

Anyway, good luck to you. Hopefully he will sort things out.

I thought honest mistake but due to the fact that I still haven't heard anything new I'm figuring it was a "scam the newbie" type of deal.

I'm guessing I'm going to have to write this off as a not so good purchase on my part. I just went by what was posted here on the forums about him and I don't recall seeing any negatives towards him as a seller. I guess feedback scores aren't enough to go on for some people. I just wish I could go to someplace like Radio Shack to buy the A/V cable so I could know asap if this thing works instead of having to sit here for probably a week until I recieve my cable from ebay. I'm going to be going crazy by then.

Well, I'd say sending anything other than what is advertised is a scam. You lie about condition and forget to include something advertised, then fail to correct it, that's bullshit.

dbarrett has been around for a while and likes to buy stuff then sell it quickly. Either he can't make up his mind what he wants to collect or he is upgrading his goods and selling the previous off as new, mint, whatever.

If he doesn't correct this shortly I'm going to brand him as mentioned a ways back. Red name and a link to this thread in the custom rank. He's tried to create a second account before as well, which pissed me off.

If you paid with Paypal you should make a claim through them before your 30 days expires (if it hasnt already). Its pretty obvious you arent going to get your cable or matching serials. Claim your money through Paypal. If the seller decides to come clean and fix the problem then give him his money. If he doesnt then just stick to your guns. You have dealt with the problem for long enough.

Sometimes its better to give a little more and be guaranteed the item rather than try to get it for cheaper, but losing a lot more than you wanted to.

a small nothing really new update to this situation.

I received a PM on 7/30 stating that he would cover the cost of the cable but concerning everything else his response was - "he is not in control of this transaction at the moment."

I replied back on the same day and have yet to hear anything back. this is definately my one and only purchase with him.

***small update***

got a reply on 8/10 offering to work this out. I asked for a partial refund of 45.00 including the cost of the cable which cost me 10.00 by itself. the counter offer was 35.00 because 45.00 was too steep and said to give him a day or two to get the money. that was the last I heard.

I never agreed to the 35.00 by the way. I think I'm going to leave that decision to anyone who wants to give their opinion here. so here is my refund breakdown:

25.00 - system nowhere near described (non matching #s, no a/v cable, no baggies, etc.)
10.00 - A/V cable
10.00 - for all the damn aggrevation

does this sound fair or am I being a bit extreme and would 35.00 be a more worthy amount? you decide.
