Difference in MVS 4slot boards?

Hi,

First let me introduce myself. Although I am a newbie on this forum I am no newbie to gaming and NeoGeo. I am an 38-year old console collector and up until now I have collected somewhere in the region of 50 / 60 consoles and a lot of software. My NeoGeo collection consists of an AES, CD, NGP, NGPC, Generic Arcade cabinet with 4 slot MVS board and my latest addition a MVS-U4 candy cabinet.

My question is about the difference between the 4slot boards. My first board contains two controller connections, no headphone connectors (no jacks) and has the main volume located on the front. My new 4slot board has two headphone jacks, no controller connectors and the main volume is located beside the headphone volume on the side.

What I am looking for now is if there are any other differences between these two 4slot boards? Which on is older/newer/better? I have searched the internet and this formum but couldn't find anything to point me in the right direction (apart from this forum ;-). I hope someone can help me with this question or point me in the right direction.

I never heard of that board before. The FT2, which I have has 2 control ports and the sliders both on the right, but no headphone jacks, although I have added these and a memory card slot via an MV-IC.
I find the FT2 to be the best 4-slot board.

You may be right when you say you never seen the board, I made a little mistake there. The correct versions are:

4slot board 1: no headphone jacks, 2 controller ports, master volume on the side

4slot board 2: 2 headphone jacks, no controller ports, master volume on the front

Sorry about that.

Sounds like your board 1 is an FT2. Is it smaller than the other board, one side is slimmer?

I'll check the size of the two boards when I come home tonight.

Edit: The sizes are indeed different.

Board1 measures 39 cm x 26 cm
Board2 measures 45 cm x 26 cm

So taken into account that computers always get smaller over time I guess board1 is the newest?
