GAH! Need help removing my stupid happ sticks

Is there a trick to getting these things off? Those little black rings (43-0019-00) at the bottom of the shaft will NOT come off.

I've never had any trouble with em, the outside part just kinda bends off witha bit of pressure, try seperating (sideways) the tips

here's how to get the e-clips off:

take a tiny-ass little screwdriver, push down a little on the white plastic piece underneath the e-clip with your fingers, and wedge the screwdriver in the little gap between the joystick shaft and the e-clip and it should pop it off halfway.

I find it easiest to use a pair of needlenose pliers, and open the pliers in the gap in the clips... You've got to release the pressure on the clips though if you want any chance of getting them off with any ease. Just push down on the stick itself until the other end of the rod isn't tight against the base.
