Supergun + AES system don't work on Plasma

Hi I bought myself a Plasma TV. Very nice for the new consoles which support HDTV etc but with my supergun I get a very vage image, mostly white, and my AES system has permanent slowdown, looked like frameskip to me. I was wondering if there's something I can do about it or that I should keep my old TV hooked up.

What exactly do you mean by permanent slowdown? Can give us an example?Has it always been like that?

The game is just slow. For example, If you hard slash in Sam Sho V you only see a few frames. It's just a constant slowdown. I don't have a cam so I won't be able to make a vid. It displays the game but not in full speed. And it has always been like that on my plasma. My sg only get's a white screen with a very vage image in the back. I think the signal is not supported by my plasma and so I was wondering if there's anything I can so about it. But I still think a good 4:3 tv is best for the oldskool games and I never had problems one that.

That's very strange ,I've never heard of plasma tv giving any problems with in use with a supergun or a neo.But if your neo works fine on other tv's then use that for the time being.I would ask or pm D-lite ,Jeff Kurtz or Kenny to solve the supergun problem for I'm not sure of what to make of it . I've never experienced it before.

Maybe you need to mod your AES or SG with Component or VGA output. Ask D-lite, KJP or JM Kurtz, they might help you with that.

Your tv is probably trying to upscan the signal. Spring for the component encoder.

=)

Perhaps not even upscan, but digitally trying to "upscale" it using a video processor (and if it's creating slowdown like that it's probably not a very good one). Best way around this is to use a high grade upscan converter or external upscaleing device =)

Upscale! That's what I was thinking! A friend of mine has an HDTV and it doesn't like the neo at all. Neo Geo games looked awful on it until he got the s-vid upgrade and they still didn't look all that good.

Just like I though, Neo is best played on my normal TV. Thanks for the info guys.
My plasma likes the new consoles only, with their hdtv support. Glad i kept that 'old' TV around!

Haha
I never bothered getting an HDTV since I just didn't see the point atm since those new fangled carbon cathode displays are in development or whatever they're being called.
I just play on some rubbishy budget CRTs for now, which aren't all that bad because I live in the UK so they at least have RGB input on them. Two 14"tvs and a 24" one that claims to be multi regional although it's obviously not (judging by the picture quality I get when it's in 60Hz mode =D)

If I had an extra couple of hundred dollars lying around, I'd spring for a 25"-29" RGB monitor. I looked around last year for one, but most places here want unGodly sums for them. One I looked at was well used, but the asshole wanted $400 for it :oh_no: . I offered $150 cash and he got pissed and kicked me out of his shop.

Yikes! Well you could always look around for preowned ones. Just make sure they're not too old of course or if it has an option to check how many hours of use it's had you could do that to. Ebay is a good place to find RGB moniors although the cost of shipping is often more than the cost of the monitor =X
Right now I'm using an old SVGA monitor that I've had since 1995 and it does 15Khz RGB and the only thing I've ever noticed is that sometimes I get the odd flicker in the top right hand corner of the screen. I saw a VGA box at my local pawn shop for £5 and it had a Scart connector on it! So I think I might pick it up just to see if it really is a horribly underpriced RGB upscan converter. Here's hoping *prays*

Sad thing is when you find an RGB monitor here in the States, it's pretty much useless because no equipment uses the signal outside of some old computers.

So why people want to charge so much money for something noone really wants is beyond me. Besides that, RGB monitors are easier to make than conventional if I understand them correctly.

Get a Brand New Arcade monitor and build a box for it. Or put it in one of those old wood bordered RCA setups.

You can even get a High Resolution one for the price of an HDTV.

It's sad that people blow all this money on Plasmas/Big Screens and HDTV's only to not support RGB.

I bought my plasma for the new consoles and dvd's. And because it's damn big :)
Games like F Zero GX, GT4, etc look awesome on it. But for the older consoles a normal tv is still the best option imo.

The only problem with using RGB on scart widescreen TVs is some of them don't seem to like operating in 4:3 mode when being fed an RGB source. I think this is possibly because the pin that is used for the red signal is also used for carrying the horizontal resolution information. So whenever a voltage is fed through the pin the widescreen TV it will automatically expand the image to fill the screen regardless of what ratio you have it set to. Although I think some of the more expensive models can overcome this problem. As for there being a "best" way to play any console. Nothing beats using a big ass non interlaced monitor and a 100Hz refresh is good too of course =) The only thing I tend not to like about CRTs is their geometry although on more expensive models the Geometry is often almost perfect. Geometry seems to be the biggest downfall of cheaper CRTs, and the often slightly curved screens don't help at (because the geometry of the glass itself isn't flat). I've even noticed that some "Flat" screens almost bevel in the way; I think this is trying to compensate for the pin cushion effect created by CRT monitors although I don't understand why they don't use a decent pin amp. Plasma and LCD give perfect geometry of course due to their non scalable pixels but the only problem with this is video processors have to be used to enlarge low resolution images to fit the number of pixels on the screen. Philips are well known for using good quality interpolation chips although a lot of Plasmas seem to have trouble with upscaling very low reslution (like 320*). LCD has the lowest picture quality usually but it also has the longest life span so you have to weigh things up before deciding what to play your games on.
If I had a TV like yours I would consider getting an upscan or upscale device/
I often play on my 14" TVs then use something bigger when I have people over.

I know there was a lot of misc bs in the post but I just got a bit carried away ^_^'''
