off topic...dude, if your name is really "jonathan" then "john" is not an abbreviation for it. John is very common in Europe as a form of "Yachaban" -> Johann, Giovanni, Jean (in old french jehan), and john is a contraction. Jonathan is old testament and used very infrequently so it approximates the original accurately "Yonatan." This name exists in Irish as "Ionatan" in English as "Jonathan" and for some modern jews "yoni."
Yonatan was David's friend and died in battle against the Phillistines whereas John was the name for Jesus's cousin and a gospel writer. I'll let you be the judge as to which is more kick ass.
