off topic...dude, if your name is really "jonathan" then "john" is not an abbreviation for it. John is very common in Europe as a form of "Yachaban" -> Johann, Giovanni, Jean (in old french jehan), and john is a contraction. Jonathan is old testament and used very infrequently so it approximates the original accurately "Yonatan." This name exists in Irish as "Ionatan" in English as "Jonathan" and for some modern jews "yoni."

Yonatan was David's friend and died in battle against the Phillistines whereas John was the name for Jesus's cousin and a gospel writer. I'll let you be the judge as to which is more kick ass. Why do I care? My name is Jonathan and I hate it when people write my name as "John". Biblical history rocks :buttrock:

Ok this response just sucks. nothing to do with the question...

ON TOPIC--
Do you use SCART to connect your MVS to the TV (straight RGB), or do you use an encoder board. If SCART there could be problems w/ the TV or MVS, encoder it is likely you need to adjust your color levels on the encoder.

If you use SCART, try getting a test DVD. This will have some test patterns on it, so you can properly adjust color, saturation, hue, brightness. You should have one of these anyway, it'll really help with all your television viewing experiences.

cheers,

Please post a pic of the screen, it seems to be a connection problem ?

If you were using an encoder for video out, it may have been a system chroma phase problem like 4.43 NTSC on PAL.

Does anyone know of an application for 4.43 NTSC, multisystem TVs support it, but for what ?

Sorry off topic

If the RGB is OK on the board set it should be OK on the input to the monitor.

Otherwise the interconnect may be at fault

Do you have a piccy of the on screen

I'm guessing 4.43 NTSC is only for something like betacam master tapes used for news broadcasts, etc. Could also be that it is broadcast at 4.43 in some countries.

just guesses. lol

Ive checked the World TV/Radio handbook and all countries using NTSC use 3.58 MHz sub carrier (system M)

Edit
Just found this
"About 20-25 years ago I saw NTSC 4.43 colour on a multistandard consumer/industrial VHS machine designed to play 625 line/50 field PAL colour tapes in NTSC 525 line/60 field markets. The VHS worked with a multistandard monitor with an NTSC 4.43 decoder. The monitor also decoded standard NTSC 3.58 on 525 lines. I think the VCR also played 525 line PAL colour tapes as NTSC.

I recall that there was a PAL patent licensing issue around that time between the European electronics industry and Japan. The 4.43 NTSC may have avoided the need for a PAL decoder license."
