Need Help opening a CPS 2 Board! by Rot CPS 2 Noob!

Hi Guys and Girls... err.. mainly guys...

Rot here.

I just recently acquired a CPS 2 board... SF 2 X... err... I'd like to send the romz to Razoola so I can have them phoenixed up....

However, I have NO fekkin idea how to open the CPS 2 Board.

I hear you need a special bit... Can you guys tell me where I can obtain one please! :emb:

I hear some people say stuff about drilling the CPS 2 board as well... man... I need definitive answers guys!

I can post pictures and stuff... but I assume you Tech Guys know what a CPS 2 board looks like!

The bit you need to unscrew the screws is commonly called a security torx bit. Do a search for a:

TORX Tamper Resistant TR20

I'm sure you could get a TR20 screwdriver or just buy the bit if you have a changeable driver.

They're pretty easy to find, example:

You should be able to find the bit locally, you UK Fekker

Some of the screws will be under the warranty stickers (assuming they're still there - if so remove them). There should be 4 screws total (i think).

I had one in my D&D:SoM board, and the only way i could get it out was to drill it out. And it was kind of a bitch, especially since i just wanted to open the damn board to see if the battery was still good.

I didn't drill my pin out. I just took two small flathead screwdrivers and inserted them under the lip of the pin and pulled it apart. The screwdrivers dug a little into the plastic housing, but it popped right out.

there are....

a couple of CPS-2 replacement battery kits up on e-bay right now which include the battery + the Torx bit - they wern't very expensive, so have a look there ...........

That won't help with the pin though.

This is how I opened mine too (no more loud fan! yay!)
