My PC is permanantly upstairs, a long distance from my xbox. It could be a real pain to get it set up. You have all spent some time with it and neo ports. So going back to my question. Should I get online or what?

XBL is great for Street Fighter Anniversary Collection alone. I haven't even played all of my other games that use XBL - but there are tons of good ones out there.

Online PC stuff is nice - but all too often it degenerates into a "who has the best hardware" match, whereas everyone's equal (well, almost) on Live. It's hands down the best online console service out there, I wouldn't hesitate.

I predict that XBL will be the reason that Xbox will begin to dominate in the next generation of consoles.

xbl is awsome - I had my box for a couple of years before deciding to get it (tied in with halo 2) and havnt looked back since - I personally dont think the £40 a year subscription was bad considering how much time ive spent online

I'm seriously considering XBL as well, for the upcoming KOF games.

However, I have been playing on Kailerra for the past few years and have learned to hate the experience. I always have significant input delay and of course there will be lag often, which just makes me play like a scrub/newb with hardly any skill.

However, I connect well with a few players, sometimes but rarely.

Is there anyone that has tried Kailerra and XBL and can tell the difference?

I'm assuming XBL is a better experience (less input delay/lag) due to people actually putting money into this (developers, subscribers), but please help me out with some info.

I just wanna know if the XBL is well enough for competitive play and better than Kailerra.

Well, that was somewhat helpful, and I guess overall Live should be better than Kailerra, if not by much, but thats all we have now since arcades are dead, and hardly anyone plays KOF....

Anyway, waiting on the KOF releases now in August, and I'll see many of you on there.

I think live is better than kaillera...

I usually play 3rd strike on live (gettin better here, maybe ^^ ) and it's awesome, i mean, almost no lag at all :D

SVC, on the other hand, got TONS of buttons delay, bad netcode maybe but oh well...

You should try live, imo ^_^

I would buy an Xbox w/ live but i feel that it would be a lost investment, with the oncoming Xbox360 in all; I think its a little too late for me to really get into online gaming this generation.

I personally had some bad experinces with CvS2 through Xbox Live (major lag, disconnections, etc.), so my expectations are pretty low for other online fighting games for live at this point. The controller kills the mood as well, I can only enjoy Halo 2 online and that's about it.

Get a better connection, and get a joystick. Playing fighters with an Xbox pad is just insane.

why would I waste more money on something I was skeptical about in the first place?

I don't know. Why would you do something half-assed and expect it to perform well?

I dunno... I wasn't expecting it to perform well AT ALL. but I gave it a chance anyway, don't get me started on Capcom vs. SNK 2 :oh_no:.

I've played with all the things you described, and if lag wasn't the current problem it was people (scrubs) constantly dropping matches all the damn time. An arcade stick ain't gonna help if the matches pause every 2-5 seconds to mess your timing up. I ditched my fighting games and stuck with Halo 2

Xbox Live is for Halo 2 period, that seems to be the only game that plays well online for me.

So if you enjoy playing fighting games on Xblive, more power to ya; unfortunetly my experiences went from frustration to anger so I stopped playing. I may not play online anymore, but I'll be more than happy to compete with you in an arcade.

well I'm happy for you. But as I said before, I'm just gonna wait for Xbox360 and try my luck again with online play.

Wes, I've seen your live vids and I'm impressed. you gameplay method reminds me of my own where you run in and break down your opponents defenses, or that's what I make of it.

I definitely know what you mean with all the rank whores dropping all the time (see my XBL SFAC droppers list thread), but there are ways around it. It just takes a little bit of effort. With 3S I'd recommend adding people around here to your friends list. The most enjoyable games I've had so far have mostly been with other members here. Just add them to your friends list, and then check to see whether one of them is on or not when you log in.

I don't think fighters will totally lagless for quite some time, but with a little effort I think that online play can be pretty enjoyable.

I'd love to compete in an arcade, but I'm not even sure there's a 3S machine around here ... :help:

well its still a good idea to wait for the xbox360 and see how it works. I thought about that but i just couldn't resist. The 360's gold plan seems pretty cool though.

p.s. Wes is alright, He totally fears ST Balrog and T.Hawk. j/k.
