What is meant by "Soak Tested"?

I've heard the phrase "Soak Tested" mentioned alot and was just wondering what exactly does it mean and what does the process involve?

As thegreathopper said, its a bench test. Important especially after fixing intermittent faults- the equipment is run for some time to ensure the repair was effective.

It's also sometimes called "Burn in"...But that is usually used in reference to computers.

off topic but "burn-in" when related to computers actually doesnt really do much at all.
some people think it helps but not really.
