I was just wondering, i hear alot of people asking about replacing the CD Drives on there Toploading Neo CD's and wondered, could the Drive be replaced on a Frontloader? Not in terms of speed (I know its limited by the Buffer), but just as a replacment if my drive should ever break? Which ones would fit? I just thought it may be easy to source one out as it is the traditional Horizontal Loading PC style drive as opposed to the Toploaders drive.
Thanks

It really depends on which part of the drive is defective. If the drive mechanism is in question, you may be able to source the original components from a NOS (new old stock) electronics supplier.

I am sure that the laser and also the drive motor could be replaced fairly easily. As for substituting a PC drive?? Only if the neo has an IDE or SCSI interface in it. I'd say it's more likely that SNK licensed some other proprietary cd-rom data specification so that you would have to pay SNK to fix it if it was broken.

cheers,
