Just curious since I'm in the mood for a new PSP game and Killer 7 won't be in until tomorrow at my GameStop (so I won't have a new GC game to keep me busy tonight).

My biggest question: do the levels suck due to the random generation, are are they actually decent?

Yeah, I know. :kekeke:

That too. I wanted to at least give the thread title an aire of legality. But, um, all manners of play impressions would be welcome.

just bought it from work, it's weird but it's nice that ya can change the button like a keyword FPS games, should of had the infrastructure great possiblities with that...nice with the level system for armor and weapons, some stages too short while other stages were a nice size but I am only on level one. sound and music is okay I like using the headphones anyways.

well back to playing it.

Cool, thanks for the impressions. The reviews are pretty lukewarm, but for only $40 I'm tempted to buy it to have a new PSP game to play.

Post some more after you get some more play time, if ya don't mind. :D

Just spent the past hour with it, so far I like it but the controls take a LOT of getting used to, especially if you're used to playing PC FPS games. Fortunately there are 4 different control setups to choose from.

It's a very ambitious game, from the graphics to the upgrades in weapons, multiplayer, etc. It's just that the PSP really isn't designed for FPS games. The lack of a right analog stick is what gives it problems, but the auto-aim sort of makes up for it.

Definitely not the game of the year, but a bit better than the reviews it's been getting.

Picked it up today as well and I'm pretty pleased so far. I picked up the controls immediately, no problem there (Type A). That may be because I don't play PC games or many FPSs but I don't see what the big deal is. The reviews are very harsh on the game though, mainly because they can't wrap their head around the controls. Like you said, for $40 it's a new PSP game and it's actually pretty decent, definately doesn't deserve the thrashing it's getting in reviews.

BTW, I had to go to 3 different stores before I found one that wasn't sold out. Very surprising...

FPS means "I NEED A FRIGGEN MOUSE TO SHOOT!" for most people anyways, I got to the second sector, ok it gets friggen hard, hey I may have alot of weapons but they shoot with mgun, grenades, just rapid guns, ghostbuster guns, and I just beat the city too and it alot tougher the second time around for some reason, I was expecting it to be the same rate, just dying alot more.

If your used to FPS on PC you will know the difference but if ya like metroid prime FPS this shouldn't bother you all that much...well time to charge my PSP and play tomorrow.

I dunno but I did see an update thing on my PSP menu along with the game but I didn't do anything.

Yeah it's strange, it lists another UMD icon below the game icon stating '1.5 firmware update' which of course already exists on USA PSP units. Maybe Konami was just too lazy to remove it from the Japanese version?

yep thats what I thought.

A guy from a gamestop store told me that if your update your PSP with the new firmware from Coded arms all your emulators will not work anymore.

I don't know if he was bullshitting or if he's telling the truth.

does anyone know if its true?

What happens is that if you tried to play this game with a 1.0 PSP (only the early JPN ones had it), it would have forced you to update your firmware to 1.5, otherwise they game wouldn't run. And until some weeks ago, emulators only worked in 1.0 firmware, but now they also work in 1.5 as well.
Possibly the guy wasn't aware that it is now possible to do this stuff in 1.5. However, if a new game comes that forces you to update to 1.51 or higher, then you'll lose emus & stuff unless somebody manages to hack that firmware.

or patch the game to nop the version check -you ll need a big MS though-. If that s the only way i have to be able to still play my Pulstar and kof98 on the psp then so be it :)
