Has anyone created a NeoGeo to PS2 converter that'll allow one to use the NeoGeo Stick on the Playstation? I know that there's one for using the PS Controller on the NeoGeo, but who wants to do that?

There is no official product, but quite a few people on here make their own.

It does require you kill a PS pad though, most people have tons of old ones lying around anyway.

I recently made one. I used a Sony PS1 digital PCB. The only problem I had was figuring out the +5v on the PCB. But using a PS1 Sony PCB made it very easy. The reason I needed it was because I am using it with a NEO Hori Stick. If your using an old style stick or a stick wired without a PCB, then you won't have to utilize the +5v. If you are familiar with basic soldering, it should be fairly easy. You will need patience, it's a little time consuming.

If your stick does not utilize the +5v, then I wouldn't use it. I hear it causes problems, but I'm not an expert so I'm not 100% sure.

Sounds good.....

I didn't know that they were easy to hack.....

The one I bought had adjustable Turbo settings also.......

You could get two SPST (momentary) pushbuttons, an LED and have turbo capabilites.

PS1 digital pads have solder points, and also have holes to solder Ground and the +5v pin. The only problem is the PS1 digital pads are a little long, so you will have to get a project box long enough to fit the PCB. The project box I originally purchased was too small, so my PCB is out in the open. But works.

Here is an example, you can see the solder points. But they weren't used in this pic.

If you look at the hole to the left of the chip, that is where I solder the wire for the +5v pin. And if you look to the right of the start button, the hole in the middle is where I solder the wire for Ground.

Thanks for the idea. Even small project boxes are a little pricey. I paid $7.99 for a project box that I can't use. I'm sure there are other ways, but I have to look around my house for them.

VHS cases make great project boxes. And they are screwless. They don't look 100% proffesional but they function well.

The thin plastic is easy to work with.

I get mine for free. You can get them for free by dumpster diving at a video rental chain.

If I recall corectly, some of the earliest broke/supergoose Mini SUperguns used VHS cases.

You can get them at most electronic stores. Radio Shack, Fry's Electronics, etc....

I purchase mine at Fry's electronics. The controller ports at Fry's are 99 cents.
Same for the Project boxes. ($7.99) There's also Ebay, if you don't want to leave your house.

Make sure you get DB15 controller ports. I believe there are two types of 15 pin controller ports.

Radioshack does not sell db-15 connectors for some reason. I got mine from the local Peerless Electronics.

I ripped a db15 port from an old gravis pad

should be fine, plus, I need some practice first

here's my question, am I matching the right side with this:

OR am I supposed to match the top diagram with the backside of the port?

You are suppose to use the back side of the ports. Most if not all, will be numbered. If the back of the port is white, then sometimes the numbers are hard to see.

no numbers on the one I have (maybe I should hold off and order the 0.55 port, the extra 0.44 for the other would prevent me from feeding my kids)

I just wanted to make sure that the diagram was representing the numbers from the view of the back of the port

I'm not sure about project boxes since I have no clue where you are ordering from. Just make sure you follow the numbering on the connector you order (i'm sure it will be numbered), and you should be fine.

cheers,

Try Ebay, can't seem to find them in the site I provided. Not very search friendly.

Would there be a way that I can use the controller for both Neo Geo and PSX?
