I just bought my first cabinet. It's a Taito Egret II. Anyhow, I have no games for it at the moment, some are on the way though. I'd like to see if everything works, but when I power up the cab without any games in it I get no picture what so ever. It flashes, it makes that buzzing sound but nothing on the screen. Is this normal? Is there anyway I can get something on the screen without a game?

Correct me if I'm wrong...

I don't think you will see anything at all without a PCB attached.... While everything is powered when you switch it on, there is no brains, so you won't see anything... You're gonna have to wait until you get a board.

If you had something else that output 15khz RGB video you could attempt to connect that to the monitor.

I would recommend that you just wait until you have a game to test it with. Some older jamma games are very cheap on ebay...

Thanks, I changed the brightness and now I see lines going across the screen. Well at least that's something.

Yep that's a good sign. That's the sure sign of raster. :)

It's a good thing too!! It would be extremely odd to get a taito egret II with a vector monitor. Be kinda tight though if you could get your hands on a working star wars, tempest, or something else equally good.

cheers again!

You might not want to mess with the monitor controllers, as later
on it might be hard to get it to the original form. Just a thought, as it is
really hard. Just wait until you get a game, and try it. Nothing will come
out if you don't have a game plugged in.
