I am thinking maybe in a while i might get one of these, but i need to know a few things first.

I have a supergun so if i buy a atomiswave board and a game can i play it right away, is it still a 4 button set up , do the boards have controller ports ?

also are new games still being made for this system, are the new king of fighter titles coming on this or on other systems

thx

Atomiswave is JAMMA, so you should have no problems playing it with your supergun (that's how I play mine). The Atomiswave is set up for a maximum of 5 buttons, though, so that might be a problem unless your sg is wired to accomodate the fifth button in some way (i.e. select button as button E instead of coin drop). One of the more technically-inclined members would be able to give you some details on that (norton9478 built my sg and it works great with ATW, or D-Lite, Amano Jacu, and various others would be able to tell you how to do it right).

The mobos do not have controller ports. But you shouldn't really need ports since I would assume your sg has ports? I just use my regular Neo controllers.

The releases are starting to pick up a bit. Rumble Fish 2 came out in Japan recently, Samurai Spirits Tenka is due out soon, and so is Neo-Geo Battle Coliseum. King of Fighters XI is due out later this year. It seems that most of the games that do well on ATW get PS2 ports and maybe even XBox ports, too.

For more in depth responses, you might try PMing Amano Jacu. I don't know the URL off hand, but he wrote a very nice FAQ for Atomiswave stuff and he's a very helpful guy in general.

Thx Jro, nice faq amano

As i just got back into the neo geo and building my collection, i will sort that out first and once the atomiser is a little cheaper i will go for that too as i like my 3d fighters.

One thing (Notice that if your set-up is wired for MVS, the D button will act as AW button 4 and the select button as AW button 5. )<----- does that mean that my 4 button set up on the neo pad/supergun will automaticly work on the select button as the 5th button ?

I also hope it doesnt go the way of the hyper 64 and end up with a machine that has less than 6 or 7 games

Well, what it means is that in your set-up, you have a button that, when used in a MVS board, acts as SELECT, then it will work as the AW 5th button when you hook an AW board there. And A,B,C,D of MVS will wotk as buttons 1,2,3,4 of AW of course.

thanks, I was thinking that if the select button is used as a 5th button then what would compensate for the select button but i forgot the select button is only there for game swapping which aint a factor here, so seems easy enough,

now all i need is a spare grand :)

i remember your membership number was about 5 different from mine, now theres like 10 new members a day instead of a week

One thing about the Atomiswave, and this is more for US members, is that it doesn't work right with the JROK encoder. Instead use the AD type encoders like the NeoBitz or the R2N.

I also have a question about the 5th button for AW. I have a supergun and I also 'modded' a dreamcaststick for use on my sg. As the dc stick doesn't have a select/coin button I wired the C button to that. So if i understand everthing in this thread rite, that C button would be the 5th button on AW? Because if that is so, I'm gonna look for one :)

Not that I have the cash to buy an AW but what kind of problems does it give? Or I guess maybe just no vid at all.

Yeah, your C button should work as AW's 5th button if I understood your explanation right.

I never really had a problem except for it being overbright.

Please explain.

Well my C button does the same as the select button on the old style neo stick. If I push it , it adds credits.

Most likely your C button is wired to coin in the JAMMA harness, not select; but when using unibios in the MVS, coin can be used as select. You should wire it to select (pin 26 of JAMMA), as there's no trick equivalent to unibios to use the coin button as the 5th one in the AW.

So if I get it right (I know only a little about these things), I can solder a wire from pin 26 of JAMMA to for example pin 2 or 10 on the DB15 connector on my supergun? Because if I remember correct these are not used with the normal Neo Geo pinout of the stick. Thx again!

If you do so, whatever button of your stick you have wired to pin 2 or 10 of the DB15 will work in the AW as 5th button, and as true select for MVS.

Careful there ;) Button "E" in KOF is actually JAMMA button 3 (Neo Geo C) by default. Causes much confusion this does, but thankfully you can change set-up in the test menu ;)
