Hi dudes,
I´ve recently bought an Ultimate NEO GEO AES mod done by Jeff Kurtz, descrption below:

"You can’t get any better than an AES system modified with the Neobitz Video Encoder board. Anything else just doesn’t compare, period. Other sellers will hype their standard S-Video mod – but those mods are based on my old generic S-Video mod, so as they say, don’t be fooled.

The Neobitz gives your Neo superior video quality – Component Video, S-Video, and Composite Video. Even the S-Video alone is far superior to the standard S-Video mod, but Component Video takes it to a whole new level.

This system you are bidding on has been professionally modified by myself. I have the strongest reputation for Neo Geo mods so you know you are getting the absolute best quality work.

Here is a rundown of the modifications installed in this system:

- Neobitz Component Video, S-Video, and Composite video. This is the absolute best analog video signal you can get out of the Neo for use here in the US. The Neo never looked better!
- Digital Audio. Yes, DIGITAL. You get Toslink (fiber optic) and Coax digital output. The Neo never sounded better!
- Stereo Output. True stereo output. Tested and verified for proper channel output.
- BLUE Reset Power LED. Lets you know when your Neo is on. I can change the color if you would like something else. You can choose from Red, Green, Blue, Orange, Yellow, or White.
- UNI-BIOS 2.1 with socket. The best replacement BIOS for the Neo. This little miracle contains everything the old Debug Bios had, and more. Superb cheat engine, Music Player, System Tests, and more. An absolute must-have for any Neo fan. "

My question is if can I use this Progressive-Scan Component VGA Box to get a superior video quality in my LG Flatron L1730S 17" TFT monitor.

As I have NFI :conf: ....some help would be really appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

I dont see how anything could be superior to the native interlaced RGB out of the neo.

Converting to component then PS can not improve the video signal, it can only deteriate.

My thoughts exactly. What about this component chip, Neo Bitz or whatever it's called, toddy? Can it possibly offer a better picture than pure RGB?

In a word - NO

edit: In several words - component is referenced to the Y or luminance signal, which is encoded from the native RGB, there is no "perfect" conversion, hence RGB is superior, period.

The colour difference formula for component video from RGB below (after encoding the luminance)

Y= 0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B.....Luminance component

R-Y= R - (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B)
= 0.701R - 0.587G - 0.114B.....Chrominance component (Red)

B-Y = B - (0.299R + 0.587G + 0.114B)
= -0.299R - 0.587G + 0.886B.....Chrominance component (Blue)

Component video/colour difference is an inferior adulteration of the original RGB. Having said that, it is better than composite or svideo.

"The Neobitz gives your Neo superior video quality – Component Video, S-Video, and Composite Video. Even the S-Video alone is far superior to the standard S-Video mod, but Component Video takes it to a whole new level."

That may be a little misleading, unless you are in the US where RGB inputs on a TV are rare.
