That game was actually going to be the first Neo Geo AES I was going to get. But then I saw some screen shots and I said to myself "This isn't the Double Dragon I know!"

Wouldn't it be cool if it was really the original arcade version? I remember now that Data East and not SNK produced this game. Duh!

DD on the neo is fun, Remember its an old game, So the fighting engine is dated.

I wish there was a 2-D sidescroller DD on the neo tho

So in the opinion of you, my esteemed colleagues, is the DD AES cart worth the dough to someone that's majorly into fighters with a little nostalgia for the DD series?

I have the MVS version of DD and I will try and give you a little feel for it. The graphics are on par with Street Fighter 2, probably championship edition or so era. A bit dated, but I must say that it plays pretty well. The backgrounds are colorful and usually change through the board (The subway scene is pretty cool, doing a big combo can make stuff fall through the ceiling from the street above) and there is lots of things to break (the arcade). The combos are very SF2ish, but what isn't these days. One thing to note, this game is based on the Double Dragon Movie, and not the Game per say, so you have some contenders in here you may not be familiar with. Also, there is some FMV from the movie played at times which is impressive if you think of what it is playing on... but in all honesty it looks worse then SegaCD video. So, I would say... $50 max on this one for the MVS... home cart users, god I have no idea how much this would cost, but I am sure it will be too much. This is a fun one if you can get it cheap (mine was free, so I may be nicer to it then others), but it is pretty old, and is really pale in comparison to Waku Waku 7 or any of the other older SF2 style games on the Neo.

DD is not a great game. Gameplay is not good, there is not enough special hits and characters are not very interesting. No,it's not a good fighting game(probably one of the worst for me)

Thanks for the information. I might still pick this one up if I decide to collect all the Neo fighters on AES (my intention). But, it'll come after I get all the KOF, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, and Samurai Showdown games.

Thanks.

I wonder if this DD is as bad as Street Fighter the movie for the Saturn. Man do I hate movie-based games. Only one I will love forever is Goldeneye 64.

Well, at least this DD is better than Street Fighter the Movie in my opinion.

Neo DD is playable, even if it's not fit to lick the King of Fighters' boots. This would be Double Dragon 5- because there was a Double Dragon 4 on the Super Famicom. DD4 came out in the USA as "Super Double Dragon". There WAS a game called "Double Dragon V: The Shadow Falls" in the USA, but I do not count that one. That one stank and was frankly forgettable.

As for SFTM, that one is a frigged up mess with sloppy control and lameass digitized characters. Someone at Capcom should've had their knuckles bashed with a ruler for even proposing it. At least Street Fighter Alpha 2 came along at that time to help wash away the bad taste that SFTM left in my mouth. Capcom USA's turning down SFTM was a great move. Instead, they let Acclaim do the dishonors.

At least SFTM makes an excellent coaster.

My copy of DD is on CD, and I like it. WHile it isn't the best fighter, its fun and it has heart

I also love how certian players (like the Lee Bros.) can change into a hyper version of themselves in the middle of a round. I particularly love the wicked jazz-sax remix of the original DD Theme Song that plays when they do.

And it has an intro FMV with that guy who's now on the X-Files (appropriately wacky for the Wacky Woolly Neo).
