At first I thought it would be cool, but basically its stupid.

I removed the EMU's from my Memory Stick and have no desire to play any of them.

I purchased a PSP to play games... and look what I get - CRAP!

I was thrilled to see a new release today, MC3 - TERRIBLE.

Now I got Meteos, Kirby, Yoshi Topsy Turvy, Fire Emblem.... ect ect.... for the DS/GBA.

Who is enjoying the emulators on the PSP?

Who is starting to dislike the way the PSP is going?

Anyone turning to the DS?

Hate both?

I'm loving mine. Its a handheld coders wet dreams. The system has tons of freaking power and there are many things to hack and learn.

Sure PSP releases right now suck but meh, I can remember a few months ago when DS got piss water while PSP got good times. The market is always like this and goes back and forth.

PSP is going to have an amazing fall with new IPs & new games based on big name licenses.

Loving my PSP and I have no desire for a DS at all. I've got a couple of roms and I love them because of the nostalgia + seeing how far technology has come now that I'm playing some games in my hands.

I must say I'm a little dissapointed with the PSP library, but it's understandable as after making launch, most developers are targeting the fall with their titles.

Especially these days it's not hard to figure out if you will or will not like a game so I look at what's coming out and dismiss it if I ain't feeling it. Like Midnight Club 3. It looks great, but I really hate racers so I just said, meh. Liberty City Stories, Alpha 3 and Guilty Gear etc. should be enough for me.

All homebrew/emulation asside, when I first got my PSP and fired it up, I was mesmerized. The graphics, sound and overall presentation of the system was surreal. Granted, all i have is Ridge Racer and I honestly don't have the time to invest hours upon hours a day to play through it (which is a great thing for me), I am very excited of the systems future as I know it has the ability to produce great things.

In terms of its flexibility (multimedia capabilities, emulators, homebrews, etc) it only strengthens my decision to purchase the system and I am looking forward to what the future will bring. The customization/personalization that one can do with their systems is awesome and at such an early stage in its life.

This isn't for everyone obviously but those that have been into emulation from the early PC days to Dreamcast to the XBOX will certainly appreciate the potential of this system.

I'm excited with the upcoming ds games and there are a few psp ones too though so I'm cool with both. The only problem with the psp is that when the good games do come my firmware will need to be updated but I'm not interested in anything until Death Jr. and that's not out until Aug I think until then I'm treating my psp as a portable rpg player and I'm currently playing dragon quest 5 :buttrock: and a little hot shots too.

The PSP's game line-up doesn't interest me in the slightest.

Neither does all that extra crap (UMD, MP3, etc...)

Being an emulation whore, that aspect of the system is very promising.

I'd certainly consider picking one up once things start to get rolling.

But at the moment, I'm 100% happy with my DS.

The combination of DS and GBA games is more portable gaming than I'll ever need.

Also, at the moment:

I'm cool with my PSP, there's a lot of games coming out soon that are giving me wet dreams where the DS only has my attention with Castlevania & Animal Crossing. Plus there's a couple umd's I'm thinking of gettting when they get released and if I can ever get some emu's working there's more reason I'll be firing it up.

PSP is becoming a 32bits RPG classics heaven and that s exactly the way i wanted it to be since i missed most of the 32bits era (i was commited to PC at that time). there is a slow period now because PSP came too early after announce and devkit and games take time to make but there are a lot of interesting ones coming in japan.

The emulation development on PSP is great for me, i loved PCE/SuperCD and the emulation of that system is kicking

In transports i am now alternating between Dracula X, Star Parodia, coryoon, mahjong fight club and tales of eternia.

PSP is great! Now I can be a rom kiddy on the go!

It's so incredible how I think like this. A portable SNES collection sounds so good to me :(

But magnachunks was being sarcastic, he's too cool for roms. He's also too legit to quit, which makes me jealous.

I have a PSP, started messing around with some SNES roms over the last few days. It's pretty cool. The regular PSP games aren't very good.

Don't have a DS, since none of those games interest me, and I already have a SP, but I'll probably pick one up sometime down the road.

I could care less about emulation on the PSP...I'll stick to playing PSP games on it, that is if they get around to releasing anything good soon...

none of the above...

I have the emulators [mainly genesis and PCE] on my PSP right now...and I am UNIMPRESSED. The screen can't handle it or something. Everything blurs when it moves...looks completely different sitting still than when its in motion...annoying to play. Emulators are buggy and keep crashing my PSP. Just not worth the space...rather fill it with music and Futurama episodes or something. Unless an emulator comes out that works great....I just don't care.

The current crop of games is getting very stale...but stuff is coming.

I plan on getting coded arms despite the reviews and at this point could give a rats ass if it upgrades my firmware. I can play roms on my computer...

PCE 0.7 works great on mine, change it a little to boost brightness (source code is released that s easy to do) , it cannot handle some games (like mesopotamia) but it really is great at 333MHz. NesterJ is almost perfect now.

Blur is normal, say hello to sharp lcd controler. Black over Dark green/Blue takes about 1/2 second to get refreshed (that s one of the reasons why popolocrois is a horrible port on PSP, that plus choppiness of scrolling). On quality psp games, editors take care to avoid such situations as much as possible and do great job at it, but on emus... ehehe at that time they didn t have the directive. Anyway that doesn t bother be somehow even if that s verry obvious in star parodia since it fills the screen that s somehow empty in the first levels normaly.

I just bought a DS yesterday, thinking that there are now enough decent games to keep me happy. I don't yet feel the same way about the PSP.

I like the idea of homebrew development - I have flash cards for my GBA, NGPC and WonderSwan, and am attempting to make one for my Pokemon Mini - but I don't know how stable the scene will ever be on the PSP. Sony will keep moving the goalposts and new games will require the newer firmware, and if it's so difficult to run homebrew code, will hombrew developers continue to put the work in? I believe Sony should release some kind of official homebrew product which cannot play copies of commercial PSP games, like Bandai did with the WonderWitch.

I already have a GP32 and don't use it much.

IF - and that's a big IF - I was buying one of the new handhelds tomorrow, it'd be the DS. However, I'm not buying one of the new handhelds tomorrow. I'm having far too much fun with my NGPC at the moment (particularly my new Crystal Slimline). Got my NGPC a few months ago, got 17 games so far, and am thoroughly enjoying myself in the land of 2D, 3-colour sprites.

Maybe that's the thing - I'm still not sure about a 3D handheld. It just seems... wrong... Castlevania DS does look pretty cool though...

Besides - neither the PSP or the DS is gonna have a beat-'em-up anywhere near as cool as The Match Of The Millennium...

The emulation scene would be nice to try for PSP, but I don't have the patience or the tech to run it on my PC. When someone out there will sell a 2Gig card loaded to the gills with arcade, SNES, Genesis, and Neo Geo roms, I'm there. They really need to get MAME and Neo Geo on there. That would be worth hundreds of dollars to me.

DS is getting good stuff. Lots of nice puzzle games and of course the back catalogue of GBA games.

I'm pretty pleased with my PSP so far. I've never felt compelled to buy more than 2 or 3 games on a systems launch so with stuff like Darkstalkers and Lumines with me I'm fine with current releases because I know more good stuff will be out in the future. As far as emu's are concerned, they're just a perk. I didn't base my purchase of a PSP on whether it would play roms or not and I wasn't rushing out to get one with 1.0 firmware when they were announced.

DS has a much more fun to play game library at this point.

And to all the portable emu whores:
Fuck you ALL, get a GP32. It frikkin owns PSP hands down.
