Sorry if this has been discussed before guys, I'm not much of a Tech regular.

I have tried playing KOF2k2 and KOF2k3 in a 6-slot, and neither one of them work. The same two games work in a 4-slot, and two different 2-slots though. Is this just a compatibility issue regarding the 6-slots, or is something wrong with the one I am using?

Thanks for any info guys :)

Ok let me ask this does any cart work in the 6 slot, do you know for a fact the 6 slot even works at all. The 6 slot is a nasty monster on so many levels, I happen to own one. First problem every slot on the board will act differently than another slot, one game might work in one of the slots but not another. This is because of contact problems and every slot mechanically differs from one another. Try cleaning all the slots REAL good. If the carts are new and have only been in a collector environment and are real snk carts they are most likely not the problem. There are no compatibility issues a 6 slot will play all original snk games.

All slots work with all games (about 30+ tested) except for KOF2k2 and KOFk23. I tried the 2k3 in all 6 slots, I even took every other game out at one point. The board just doesn't even register the 2k3, and skips right over it to the next game. When no games except 2k3 were in it, it just didn't register anything?

The board works fine with every single other game put in it?!

The cart is new, and works fine elsewhere, so I've ruled that out. Not sure what the deal could possibly be :spock:

P.S. - KOF2k2 actually brings up a garbled intro screen, but won't play...

Many people report problems with SNKP games not working when they are new. This is because of some sort of coating on the contacts maybe?? unsure, but some report that using some really fine sand paper on the cart contacts, or repeatedly plugging in and unplugging the cart can fix the problem.

I thought there was something about the oldest 6-slots not working with some games, like ROTD, matrimelee, svc chaos, kof 2k3, just like the mv-1. Maybe not, someone with a 6-slot correct me here.

Are you sure the triangle on the cart is the correct way? Some carts can be put in backwards. Also, have you tried pulling the carts back out abit before powering on? Simply pulling the game out a bit for better contact often makes games work in my 4 slot that were not working.

cheers,
-DT

It has to be the contacts. The cart pcb must be slightly to thin for connection since they are new cart. The solution that come off the top of my head right now is too risky involving taking the carts apart and reflowing a LITTLE VERY fine solder line over each contact. Do you really want to be able to play these games that bad in your 6 slot, it seem you have another mvs motherboard to use to play these games. I do not believe this is a software issue.

But I believe dogtoy solution of pluging and unpluging the cart will eventually work. You may have to do it over a hundred times worse case scenario.

2K3 worked in all 3 6-slots that I recently had to test... ;)

With the mobo full ( 6 games ), and 2K3 being to only game, to even having 2 x 2K3...

All worked OK.

I've tried all of those things minus the solder thing mainman suggested. Not sure what the deal is still. Thanks for all the suggestions guys, guess I'll just stick to using it in the mobos I know it works in ;)
