Sound Problem with my MVS 2 Slot...

Hi everyone, I just recently purchased a 2 Slot MVS Cab (MVS-2-25) and I am trying to figure out a sound problem that I have. When I go into the Hardware Test mode and perform the Sound Test It seems to test just fine, I get a steady audible beep out of each speaker. However when I plug in a cart to play I get NO sound at all out of each slot. They play fine, but no sound. I am assuming that the sound chip on the board is bad but I am not sure. Is there any other troubleshooting that I can perform on this? I have only one cart to test it with(FF1), and I did clean both slots as well as the cart too just to make sure. Thanks!

You're not alone - I too have exactly the same problem with my MVS2FS 2 slot. Applies to both sockets. Bad sockets maybe, but surely not both of them?

Tweaking up the voltages makes no difference.

Thanks for the info, so I guess a replacement board is what I would be needing. I wonder if I cant find the exact board, could I put a different one in? (say a 4Slot?)

Make sure the cart and mobo connections are Super clean..

Pull the cart out a bit.

A bootleg cart..or warped pcb cart will cause this, just noting..
Doubting FF1 is a boot..

Clear the back-up memory in the Hardware test.

When you perform the Sound Test move the Volume slider back and forth to see if it breaks up at all..(sound)

Lots of times this is due to /cause by a connection issue..It's either dirty cart, dirty mobo or a connection issue between the top and bottom board..

Have you ever seen the cart actually play with sound..?
Though not the most possibility but I have a legit Ragnagard cart that will knock the sound out on a board.(2/4/4 slot)...Sometimes it does it/sometimes it doesn't...Thus this being caused by a cart..

Tried it...

No luck with the suggestions you gave Chris1. I tried pulling the cart out a bit, still no sound. I got in a few more MVS Carts to try, neither one of them gave sound either. I guess I need to get a replacement board then. Or does anyone repair these boards? One other thing that I forgot to mention about the board, the second slot gives has graphics problems... the game will have lines through some of the graphics on screen too. If there is anyone that repairs boards, can anyone recommend anyone\where? Thanks!

I'm going to say..

"connection issue between the top and bottom board"

I hate saying to buy another board, but if you are looking to play right away it might be the best idea.

.........................................................................................
Try pressing at/on the pin spots..The white block parts the connect the top and bottom board together....see any seperation.?

Plug some headhones into the headphone jacks(raise headphone jack slider)
Do you get any sound..?

Ok, I have one more question. On the board there is an "EL" connector to the left of the "1P" and "2P" connectors. What is that connector used for? It is unhooked right now. The Service manual that I have for this board doesnt go into what this is used for exactly.
