Getting Started with Neo Geo

Hello,

I'm a first time poster that has been coming around here a long time. I've always loved playing Neo Geo in the arcades, and now I'm finally in the position to get started. I was wondering what would be the best way to get started. I'm in the military and I move around a lot, so a cab is probably out of the question. I thought about getting a supergun, but I know so little about them and I don't want to get jerked around when I try to get one. I know that I can trust the guys here as it seems like Neo Geo is a religion here. If anybody has any advice on whether I should go AES, MVS, Supergun, etc I sure would appreciate it. Thanks.

For portablility and lowest cost I would say a combination of 1-slot and supergun would be your best bet.

MVS games are cheaper than aes (mostly), and the supergun gives better portability than a cab.

I don't think Tech Support is really the right forum for this question.

cheers,

If the initial cost isn't that big of an issue for you, I'd say go with a consolized mvs system. Being a consolization project, it'll be somewhat portable, you won't have to mess with wires and junk (except power and video of course), and it'll be cheaper in the long run (as most titles are at least 1/4 price for mvs as aes). The only issue is the system itself... they're not cheap, and you'd have to find someone to do it for you (unless you felt like doing it yourself) I'd suggest either one of the newer style 1-slots for their size, or a 2-slot for the memory card ready, sontroller ports, and reliability.

Welcome.
This is the wrong forum for this sort of post.

If you don't have room for a cab get a CMVS or a AES. You will probably not be happy with the Neo CD.

if the cost doesnt really bother you and youre not planning to collect every cartridge then go AES.
you dont need to messa round with MVS hardware and consolizing it ect.
sure the AES carts are more expensive but there worth it.
an AES console is light weight and easy to carry around , as its not big.

Agreed, the Neo CD is more of a collectible than anything else...

I'm pretty sure Evil Nick meant that the Neo CD wasn't really good for anything but collecting since it obviously sucks for playing games.
