6slot crashing after about 10 minutes play

My 6slot cabinet crashes after about 10 minutes play. It's been doing this since I put in my Ninja Turtle cabinet's PSU after the previous NG PSU died. Could this be PSU related? Perhaps the cause of the original dieing? (note: before the original died, I never had this problem) Both PSUs look identical.

maybe the PSU doesn't have enough amps to run the 6 slot?

Wild guess...

It's possible the PSU that was in it when I got it was wrong anyway, hense both cabinets having the same PSU.

I've got to buy a new one now, so I will get one from some local dealer who knows which PSU is right for the 6slot, then I'll put the Ninja Turtle one back where it belongs.

thanks, Julian

The specs (including current outputs) are written on the PSU, check it out. Any arcade PSU should be good for a 6-slot because these PSUs are normally rated 15A on +5v, which is way more than a 6-slot requires.

check the jamma/mvs board 5 volt connections, they can get toasty and cause intermittent problems.

Just curious if you are taking voltage readings on the PSU's 5V+ when you put them in...

What voltage the 5V set at..?

Last night I cleaned the actual jamma edge connector on the board and the socket, the board is slightly brown near the voltages which I suspect is not good, probably a lot of heat generated there? After cleaning my cabinet worked again at a 'lower voltage' closer to 12v (oddly for about 1.5 hours without crashing). Perhaps the crashing was due to me raising the voltage too high so that the maching turned on.

What's the best way to clean the Jamma board edge connector? Is it worth me buying a replacement 'new' harness also to allow for a better connection? (the current one is probably at least 10 years old).

After my idea, the problem is a voltage issue and not a cleaning issue so cleaning or changing your connector won't change anything.

Dont worry about the 12 volts, set the 5 volt rail to 5.1 volts at the jamma/mvs edge connect, do not measure at the psu as there will be voltage dropped in the harness.

The 5 volt board connections on both my 6 slots were really toasted, fixed them with some solder braid (pic below)
