Hi all,

I got a phantom-1 converter last week, works well, but doesnt look good. And it's also a little shacky thing.

On my mind was something like modding an AES with a MVS Slot - that has to be possible, because that's what the phantom does. But the problem is, that it's not a 1 to 1 conversion, there's some chip on the CHA Board that's hard to find out, what type it is, because they covered it with some round black case.

- has anyone yet managed to open that black case or does anybody know, what chip that is (and perhaps got the pinout, how to connect it)?
-> I think it maybe the neo-zmc2, because that's the only difference between AES and MVS cart - and the AES Board doesnt have that, the MVS has it.

I think I may start like following the lines on a MVS board from the zmc2 to the slots or something...

If you search around in the forums, you find several discussions about this including Kpj photos of a 2-slot supposedly playing an AES cart and norton9478 putting a 1-slot in an AES case.

Sure it's possible. But the shear amount of effort required to do this renders it a fool's errand. ( )

Do you think an AES with a filed slot will look good? Because an MVS cart doesn't fit a home system slot, you know...

The epoxy on the Phantom hide the NEO-CMC Chip.

Too much work to mod an AES to play both AES & MVS cart. I have attempted it before. Not worth it and would play only earlier mvs carts. Trust me, don't even bother to attempt. You are far better off with a Phantom or Supergun (I have 3 on Sales and 1 Supergun modded NGH now in the sales thread :drool_2: )

If you don't mind ugliest and hate having to remove the Phantom, just solder a phantom-1 onto the AES's Slot and have 2 molex mount on the AES's cover. Ugly and waste of time as well.

And don't bother trying to make your own convertor, the cost of equipment, brain cells and time will far exceed the cost of a new Phantom.

yes, I know, but the MVS PCBs will fit into a AES case - that's not the first problem...

are you really sure the chip is called cmc -> and not zmc or zmc2, like I suppoesed above?

no problem about the work, I got much time :)
