What should I do with my new money?

My Alma Mater is sending me a check of all the accumulated tuition money I've overpaid worth approximately $1300. What should I do with it? I've already considered some options, but I trust the winning minds on these boards, so I'll ask you guys. Here's what I've got so far:

1. Get a Digital Camcorder.
Using this cash to help me purchase a snazzy new XL2, HVR-Z1U, or similar high quality rig is just what the doctor ordered for an aspiring filmmaker such as myself.

2. Buy New Car.
I currently drive something that is much the automobile equivalent of myself: unwashed, rarely serviced, not that aesthetically compelling, but loved. Perhaps a snazzy new (used) ride will help me get around in style.

3. Waste It on Shit.
There are a lot of DVDs out there I've yet to purchase.

4. A Gun.
The time of purification has come. Certain clowns on NG.com must feel the the Angel of Death's cold fist.


So comment on what you can. Don't be limited by my suggestions; feel free to make your own. Together we can figure out what to do with my money (that I'm going to spend on me only, not any of you, so don't bother asking that).

i have come to the conclusion that DVDs are largely a waste of money. at $20 each you simply have to be very selective with your purchases imho. screw the car if u have something that moves when you want it to thats good enough.

personally i would give it to me but if you have to spend it i would say either:


a gun could be cool if you actually use it (on people).

PAY OFF DEBT.

buy a projector that you can use for tv, games and computer.

1,300 BRC burritos from el pollo loco.

high quality (used) sound system. this stuff depreciates like 5,000% the second you take it out of a store so grab a system someone is unloading.

get it in 100's and spell your name with it on the carpet. take a picture and post it on ng.c. (you could actually do this and still buy something later)

save up $11,200 more and buy a euro kizuna.

try to make more money off it somehow. im not really good at this bu maybe you can invest it or something and double it b4 year end.

Buy a new cab!!!!!

for that kind of cash you surely can find a super-kickass cab. If you really look around you might even be able to find a 30 inch Naomi cab. Or better yet buy a few cabs and have a cool little home arcade.

Option #1 Paypal it to me.

Option #2 Buy a car.

Option #3 If you don't need the money buy a Candy Cab.

Option #4 Don't waste it on crap. Especially DVD's.

Here is what I think you should do...

Buy the GUN (on the crap side of town, a gat will run you like $25-50), so that you can CAR JACK someone for their nice NEW CAR and cruise around in style and pick up the honeys too.

Then with the extra cash buy that DIGI CAM so you can film yourself WASTING the left over MONEY ON SHIT.

And last but not least, you can still use that DIGI CAM to film yourself KNOCKING THE BOTTOM OUT OF THOSE BEEATCHES over the hood of your nice NEW JACKED CAR!

See, there you go problem solved!

A high-end sound system or a cab would be my choices. Being in pretty much the same tough situation as yourself after my tax return, I decided to go for the latter. Thanks to that I am the happy owner of a candy cab, and I plan on getting the sound system anyway in the near future! -almost forgot, Just don't tell your wife/gf in advance-

It's clear considering that you don't know what to spend your money on, there's nothing you really need. I would take some of the money and invest it(yeah it's not alot but it'll be a nice nest egg), or give it to charity.

Put together a Raid array in your pc, then get RatDVD to back up all the movies you rent from Netflix. For $500 you could have around 1.5 terabytes of storage.
