a streaming TV at neo-geo.com???

I thought about this since a while.

It would be great if we could have a kind of streaming online Tv with videos given by members or made by the website staff.

I would work like this:
members send their videos to the staff. It can be:
-Matches of members (like Wes has done)
-Videos of loke tests (like what our fellow japanese members have done)
-Videos of game test (i'm sure that some members are knowledgable enough to make something nice)
-Video of combos or great gaming achievement (1CC shooters,etc...)

I'm quite sure we woud have enough material to make something decent and it would be upgraded frequently by what the members would send.

I don't have an idea of technical/cost concern of this project so I don't know if it makes sense but I love the idea.

Your opinion.

After watching Kiken's awesome Shooters video I think this sounds like a great idea. I would drool on myself and watch it until 4 am.

If the streaming thing is too difficult just a movies section where the best of the best neogeo related movies are would be nice.

I just wonder about bandwidth, and if Shawn wants to put any more money into this site. Unless someone could donate bandwidth for the videos?

Even some NGTV episodes, not unlike PC Engine FX TV.

This site and all bandwidth are an expense of the neo-store and can be used as a write off for marketing and advertisement.

Even if we can't make straming videos we could make a monthly video file with a "best of the show" of all the videos given by members. We would only need some spaces to store the file.

So what does the staff think about it??

I see bandwidth being the main issue here. Since Wes has a nice set up going already, perhaps he'd be willing to host more fight vids if we slid him some money to cover hosting fee.

For the shooters, One of the regular shooter fanantics might be willing to do the same ( given we help cover the hosting fee ). too_short, BIG or Spike perhaps ?

Another idea to save bandwidth would be to have a password system going on each one. Nothing fancy, just 1 universal password ( not user name / password based ). Atleast that would prevent anyone surfing the web from finding the site and sucking up bandwidth. They'd have to know someone here, or visit here to know the password.

Great idea though.

Online/streaming video not only is a bandwidth monster but also requires special software and server configurations, perhaps even a dedicated server additional to the webserver ng.com is hosted/running on. That would cost a lot of money for hardware, software and labour, too much for a free service I'd say.

A simple password-protected vid download area would be very nice, tho... still, it would be quite bandwidth-intensive as well due to the sizes of some vids with 200 mb or more.

If the streaming issue is too costly or too difficult we could make for example a password protected download for a video file made with a selection of what the members would give to the staff. The video would be updated monthly and would be 100 megs only (the max size can be discussed, I don't know what is possible) for bandwtich reasons.

The staff would make the selection between what was given by the member and someone would be in charge of making one video files with the selection.

Like this we would have some updated video material that really suit our tastes.

This sounds awesome and I'd love to see some more Neo-Geo videos (Only have Kiken's shooters videos, which was awesome; could definetly use some more Neo-Geo videos...). Just bumping this thread for the slight hope that someone who makes decisions around here notices it.
