I'm looking to get a video selector for my main systems (Neo, PS2, Xbox, DC and Fami). The only thing it has to have is S-video and I'll be happy. Anyone have any suggestions?

Theres one that Gamestop sells for around 60 or 70 bux that comes w/ its own adapter to cut signal loss/decibel loss from systems to the tv. My friend picked one up and i highly recommend it. I can't think of the name but its the most expensive one they sell and there aren't that many to choose from ..so you'll know it when you see it.

While we're on the subject, I need one with component and coaxial or toslink connectors on it for my DVD, HD reciever, PC, and x-box.

For Component

I'd think that you could just take a good Composite Switcher and use that for video. Any good audio Revceiver should have at least 4 Digital Audio inputs.

Damn your movin up.
When ya traded me the AES you were using RF.

I have had an HD for a few years now, but my gaming TV was just a POS, I upgraded that one to an HD about 9 months ago.

As far as my reciever, it has 2 digital inputs....again it's kinda old.

Does it have digital Coax inputs as well?

It has one optical and one toslink but no component inputs, was looking at getting a new reciever...preferably kenwood to match everything else I have now and pretty cheap.

Any suggestions?

Would like a minimum of 3 component inputs and 3 digital audio inputs

It's really hard to suggest.

I have a Pioneer Elite (75wx5 $750 MSRP ) and my brother has a cheap ass panasonic (125wx5, $250 MSRP).

The difference is neglectable.

I don't really want to neglect it...the thing will get used :)

There is a Kenwood unit I found with 2 component, 2 toslink, and 2 coax, along with 5 composite/svid inputs as well for less than $200 I may get, if anything I can just get a selector and put it on one of the component inputs

Anyone ever used this?

They have a wireless selector w/remote at Best Buy for $29.99. I bought one a few weeks ago. Only has 4 inputs (booooo!!!), so it won't hook you up like the mega version that they sell for $100 with 8 inputs, but it has S-video jacks for everything, and it works well to daisy chain on other selectors (it's connected to two other selectors in my rig).

I was skeptical about the wireless when I first bought it, but it works well so far.

I suggest a Zektor switcher. They can be had for around $250-300 but they are well worth the price.

If you dont want to spend that much Audio Authority make a decent one for $160

Selector build Quality shouldn't really matter when considering Digital inputs. It would take some major interference to mess with a digital coax. Optical should not be effected at all.

This is the one you need : https://www.audioauthority.com/index.php?p=productMore&iProduct=3

Have been using one on my HDTV for over a year and it is the best thing ever - automatic switching (or manual if desired) and top notch quality. It can be found for about $140 at independant retailers.

Thats exactly what I need, to do it automatically I have to turn each device off so it can sense the next one? sounds like a pain in the ass cause I dont want to turn off my HD DVR if I am recording with it while watching a DVD but overall worth it.

Found one for $139 with a free toslink cable and component cable at http://www.digitalconnection.com/Products/Video/1154A.asp

That Automatic switching is cool as hell. I was going to suggest that Pelican Switch box thing but after seeing that, i'd say go for the auto switch box. Just for tits and nibbles, here's the Pelican info:

That thing looks sleek as hell, is it available in black? having 8 inputs on one box would be easier on me.

Also is there a remote avaiable for it?

Here the reviews say it comes with a remote but I don't see it listed anywhere else.

I found them in black but any confirmation that a remote comes with it even though it's not listed?

This is the best one I have found so far (http://www.ncsxshop.com/cgi-bin/shop/CY-SAVS-BK.html):

system_av_shop.gif

Manufacturer CyberGadget helps gamers gather together all their consoles with the Cyber System AV Selector Pro which packs eight inputs for connecting multiple game consoles, DVD players, VCRs, etc into one switcher. The construction is solid with a sleek metal housing and tactile buttons which depress with a click when switching between AV devices. A tiny remote control is also included which allows for far-off toggling of game consoles.

The AV Selector supports Dolby Digital 5.1 through optical connectors available on three of the inputs. A standard optical cable (not included) or digital coax cable is required. The LAN inputs may be used for connecting the Xbox, PS2 or Dreamcast so that all three are plugged into one handy hub in order to share a single broadband line.

The available inputs are as follows:
Input #1 - Supports D-Terminal, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in, Optical, LAN
Input #2 - Supports D-Terminal, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in, Optical, LAN
Input #3 - Supports Component, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in, Optical, LAN
Input #4 - Supports Component RGB, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in
Input #5 - Supports Component RGB, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in
Input #6 - Supports D-Terminal, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in
Input #7 - Supports D-Terminal, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in
Input #8 - Supports Component RGB, S-Video, Composite, Audio-in

The outputs served are: D-Terminal, Component, S-Video, Composite, Audio L/R, Optical, and LAN.

Analog Audio frequency range: 5Hz to 50KHz
Optical Sound: Wavelength (660nm +/- 30nm) Output (-15 to -21 dbm)

In the Box
1 Cyber System AV Selector Pro (16.73 x 9.25 x 2.55")
1 D-Terminal Cable (Gold-plated terminals)
1 Component Cable (Gold-plated terminals)
1 AV/S-Video combination cable
1 Remote Control, 1 AC Adapter

It's very similar to the one posted by NeoC, except that it has a remote, and some other shit that's basically useless to me.

I wonder if it converts d-sub vga to component would make for a great option to hook up my PC to as well.

I can't say for sure about that, but I'm thinking the answer is that there's probably no conversion going on. If it goes in via d-sub, it'll probably have to go out via d-sub.
