In general, no they weren't a disappointment for me. Yes, there were some things I didn't like about them, but I am comfortable with the fact that I am no longer 7 years old, so I dealt with them.

movie wise, yes. but the special effects pretty much will kill any movie made for a long time, esp. in EP III.

I liked 95% of what ROTS had to offer, but overall I felt that the SW stories took a massive "Crash & Burn" with the prequels, and I only regard the pre 1997 SE versions of the original SW (now eps 4-6) as existing, despite the fact Lucas himself has changed things around 30 years later and mostly for the worse. It doesn't have anything to do with the fact I was a kid when I saw the other flicks either, but rather that the upstart/guerrilla ingenunity Lucas and the modeling ppl put into such an audacious venture is what ultimately MADE the original three films from '77 to '82. Same with stuff like (unrelated) Blade Runner, it was the spirit of the films and how they were pulled off that make the movies classics, once you start using the money hose and glossing over everything in C.G. the very spark that lit an artistic powder keg gets pissed on by greed. Sure he (Lucas) can do whatever he wants with his creations, but it doesn't mean he should.

I hated ep1, liked ep2 a little, and I love ep3. I'm a little disappointed in the fact that all 3 weren't up to my expectations, but on the other hand ep3 was one of the most entertaining movies I've seen in a long time, so I guess that makes up for it.

Matt

BTW, ep3 = ep6 > ep5 > who cares cause the others were pretty boring.

Well, I liked all three of the new movies, but the only one that even came close to living up to my expectations was the latest movie. When I first heard of the real possibly of a new trilogy I was incredibly excited and expected alot, guess that was my mistake, because I was disappointed... :(

Sure do wish Lucas would turn the series over to someone more competent now that he has been talking about a "pre-prequel" that would chronicle the forming of the original republic and the large roll that Yoda plays in that. Still doing a movie about that seems like a bit (well alot) of whoring to me. I think the upcoming TV series will more than likely suck, but I'll still check it out...

I think merc basicly has it right, though I would change the order to 5 4 6 3 2 1.
Ever time someone tells me that the original had flaws too so I shouldn't be bothered by the gaping crapy holes in the new ones I just shake my head. The old one has flaws but it revals in them, and uses them. It has a feel of adventure and inspiration the new ones just don't. the new ones are just crapy acting and writing covered in stunning special effects, and no matter how much chocolate you put on a peice of poop at the end of they day your are still eating shit.

a movie with the KOTOR storyline would rock.

i thought the special effects in 1 and 2 were actually very bad. i mean jurassic park 1 smears diarrhea all over them and that came out like 10 years before?

part 3 on the other hand was really nice. especially the opening space fight scene really impressed me.

overall they were a disappointment. 1 and 2 were actuall bad movies let alone bad star wars movies. part 3 was very decent. so overall yes.

They were below average movies and they just don't stack up to the originals, or any other good sci-fi flick of the past decade.

Picked disappointed.

So disappointed in fact, that I have no desire to even watch the third, which is supposedly the "best" of the new 3. Being the best must mean it's a corn and peanut filled turd, instead of a plain turd.

I enjoyed them for what they were. especially 1 and 3. 2 was kind of boring though.

I haven't seen the third episode but I enjoyed every single minute of the two first episoides.
Perhaps it's due to the fact that the star wars intro theme put my mind into 10 yrs old mode so I don't see the crappy acting and the lame scenario that so many here critisize.

Ep. 1 sucked so bad that I skipped Ep. 2 entirely. So then everybody I know raves about Ep. 3 convincing me to go and see it... and was bored out of my mind. I swear CG animations have completely killed all such movies since its inception (the bad acting doesn't help either).

Ep. 4>5 -> all the others suck (yeah screw the Ewoks too).

I liked all 3 of them, infact i think they have got me into star wars in a way the original 3 did'nt.

Maybe its because i missed the whole original star wars thing and i was'nt that much of fan when i did see them, they are great films don't get me wrong, but i never went obsessed.

But with the last 3, i've been buying bits of star wars stuff and my collection is growing, But i am only buying episode 1 - 3 stuff.

Maybe i am new generation Jedi! because its the lightsaber fights that really got me into the recent films, being a huge fan of martial arts films anyway, i find these fights enthralling and the lightsaber is the coolest weapon ever.

I was a dissapointment until Episode III. After I saw it I was find with what Lucas did with Episodes I and II no matter how crazy I thought he was for doing it.

Completely agreed. The crappy use of CG visuals not only ruined episode 1 to 3, but also lots of other movies of the last decade where the makers foolishly believed they could counter abysmal acting and shallow stories with overdone computer visuals.

Compensating the lack of properly engineered models and miniatures with computing power is not going to work, not now, not in 20 years, because in one way or another, there is something to it which makes the whole thing lifeless, too bright, too clean and totally out of place. Some film makers make good use of the technique, but overall, lots of influental directors are deeply in love with their digital toys, so the crap continues.

I agree with ppl like Ivan Reitman who say the so-called "digital revolution" in the movie biz killed off a lot of inspiration and ideas because ppl started ranting and raving about superficial bullshit like Roland Emmerich's Independence Day with its oh-so-cool visuals instead of creating proper stories or even adapting existing stories to make good movies - I mean, just read the Star Wars books, a lot of interesting plots and ideas haven't been used at all, instead, George Lucas made a giant polygon-filled, self-playing computer game out of the "prequels"...

Digital technology may be fine and dandy, but its biggest problem is that it can be reproduced at infinitum. A digital scene, picture or sequence can be saved, then reloaded for the next movie project, just with slightly different textures, thus creating shitty redundancy and easily predictable setups, while with analogue/optical effects, ppl were forced to create a new effect or setup for every little scene. Yeah, this was more time-consuming, but the results also were a lot more individual and interesting, and I'm not only talking about visual effects here, it's the same with sound f/x - "THX - the audience is puking..." ;)

say, when i was a kid, I went with my cousin to see star wars in the move theaters back in 1997. It sucked ass. So when Episode I and II came out, I stayed the hell away from it.

My girl right now is a fan of star wars so I took her to Episode III. I was amazed, graphics was awesome, storyline was cool, I pretty much got it, this was the story of Darth Vader when he was a jedi and it shows why he turned to the dark side and become Darth Vader. Awesome. Fight sequences were tight. my favorite was anakin vs obe wan, and at the end when obe told him he loved em' as a brother and anakin just screams out "I HATE YOU"...damn, that shit was real if ya ask me. And damn, anakin was a cold blooded mota fucka, soon as he turn into vader, damn, cold blooded.

When we got home, I told her i wanted to see all the star wars movies, i was hooked into seein it, that day we saw I and II. It was fuckin tight. I liked the battle between Darth Maul and the two jedi's, I liked the war between the clones and the drioids in II, I liked the battle between anakin and obe vs count dooku.

In episode II, i can see how anakin is evil. Bitch complained all the time and the dude had a fucking ego, thought he was better than everybody. True signs of a bitch figga. And then he killed those sand people, everybody, the women and the chilldren. damn, that's fucking cold blooded.

The graphics were amazing and i dont know about you but the storyline was cool.

When we saw 4 and 5. That shit was boring. Fights sucked ass, in EP4, the battle between Vader and Obe was extremely bad. Look like they was just hitten sticks to gether like you do back when ya was a kid. 6 was alright. I wasn't digging the little creatures but the ending was tight.

So..i dont know why ya'll haten on episodes I-3. They got way better graphics, way better fights, storyline is better, i can see why ya'll pissed cuz you can tell that both sagas dont fit together real well but that's a good thing. 4-6 is garbage compared to 1-3.

You omitted to use the infinitive form of the verb for all conjugations. Your subject/verb disagreement is consistent enough to be deemed ebonics. A little more work and you'll be cream of the crap.
