Best ever. You must experience this.

The last IMAX movie I saw, Return of the King, was very grainy and seemed like a waste of money over a regular theater. Batman Begins was perfect, well worth seeing more than once for the $10 it costs to see an IMAX.

What's the difference between seeing a movie on a regular theater screen as opposed to seeing it on IMAX?

Yes it is a grand experiance seeing it on imax, hell imax kinda made Matrix Revolutions a lil bit better( action scene-wise ).

Damn near wet myself with joy during the batmobile scenes

@Dangerous K

It's like being in a concert, the screens huge, you can actually hear everything. It's one of those you gotta experiance it for yourelf to get the full effect things

The screen takes up your entire view and is really (or supposed to be) high quality. Plus the audio makes the room shake.

IMAX definitely made the experience of Batman Begins even better the second time around. I recommend this setting to anyone who wants to enhance the experience.

I agree, that it made Matrix Revolutions a bit more enjoyable. The sound in the last fight scene between Smith Vs. Neo Fight was just breathtaking to hear and watch.

It's kind of like watching Terminator 3-D in Unverisal Studios. Except the room is smaller. At least the IMAX up here is.

Yeah I'm thinking of seeing it again in Imax at the King of Prussia theater nearby.

I think the movie was actually some form of high def. At first I thought the movie was going to be cropped to fit the screen, but nope it was wide screen. It was freaking awesome! Anyone who hasn't seen an IMAX MUST!

When I was in Tulsa this weekend a group of friends and I went to the imax theater to see it. It looked really good, and the screen was fucking huge. My only complaint was that when the action scenes went fast it was really hard to keep up with what was going on, especially when your eyes have to focus on all the quick action happening on that huge screen. I loved the movie though - well worth the $10 imax charged.

It was like that on the original screen, its just how they filmed the fight scenes and fucked it all up.

Just saw this on IMAX tonight... it was so awesome I'm at a loss for words. The screen seemed a bit big at first but after a few minutes, my eyes adjusted and it looked like a normal screen.

By far my favorite comic book movie so far. I don't think I saw a single person leave the theater early.

Imax films are also 90 minutes because that's all they can fit onto one of those reels.

So you mean to tell me that the movie is cut down from whatever the normal time limit is? :conf:

was the picture distorted at all? i haven't seen a 'motion picture' film in an imax theater before, but it would seem like the movie would have to be completely re-sized for the bigger screen? isn't the screen slightly concave also?

Nope. Batman Begins looked fantastic on IMAX. Much more detail than a typical theater screen affords, and a sound system to match. The picture was distinctly less grainy, too.

You'll understand why the screen is curved in the first few minutes of watching an IMAX screen. At first you feel like you're missing a lot of visual data at the corners of your vision, but your eyes adjust after 5-10 minutes, and your entire eyesight is consumed with the image, rather than a small rectangular screen where you see a lot of black at a normal theater. I'm sure there's a good engineering reason for it too, but from my friends' opinions and my own, the curved screen -really- helps your eyes see the full picture. The screen is huge, and if it was flat and rectangular, there's no way you could see the full screen.

Yeah like I said, this version of Batman Begins is some flavor of HD. LOTR: ROTK was SO grainy I could barely watch it. BB is just fantasic!

Does anyone recommend I see this before watching an original screening? Or after? I might check it out in a day or two... :)

Don't spoil it for yourself. This is possibly my favorite comic book movie of all time.

I remember seeing TOP GUN and Lawrence of Arabia on IMAX. I don't know how things are in 2005, but back then in 1992 (Top Gun) and in (1997) for LOA (which wasn't a problem since it was filmmed in the aspect ratio to begin with), the movies are 70mm Prints and take "most of the screen" but are not actually blown up to IMAX aspect ratio. Maybe today they are with the advent of digital technology in order to clean up a massive blow up from 35mm to whatever the heck IMAX is, but beyond a 70mm print, I don't see how you're getting the full experience. Grant it it would still be worlds better than your standard 35 cinema experience, but far from the balls out extravaganze that is the aspect ratio of IMAX. Hence why someone brought up the 90min run time of IMAX filmed movies.

I'll have to see if SATX's IMAX downtown is showing this IMAXwise so my Pops can check out the film. I'm still in disbelief that Gary Oldman didn't play a psychotic mess like he normally does, possibly making Commissioner Gordon a dark "out there" bastid, but I guess even he's changed a bit over the years. Personally I wanted someone as fucked as Norman Stansfeild from LEON.

I'd like to go see it in IMAX, last movie I saw in IMAX was this 3D movie about a kid on a boat going to Ellis Island.

As far as the movies only being 90 minutes long, that has changed. They can now fit over two hours on an IMAX reel. I read a whole thing about it, so don't worry about the movie being cut, it's the same as in a regular theater.
