I was listening recently some songs of their first album and it's still, after all these years, one of my favorite (if not favorite) rap band.
The second album was a deception and I stopped to listen it two weeks after buying it.
I never truely followed the band, I just bought their two first albums and I keep listening the first one endlessly.

Gravediggaz fans, come and discuss.

If you are into really heavy rap I suggest you get into non phixion. I havent heard the group you mention but I LOVE non phixion and have grabbed most of the solo works from people in the group as well as the main albums.

Hop on over to www.unclehowie.com and you can check some beats straight from the page, even better is the store has some really good prices on stuff.

umm..say...rap band? that dont go together, you do that, mayne, and i automatically think of those white rock bands that mix rap into there music like corn, limp biscuit, or lincon park.

correct term is "rap group". As for the "Gravediggaz"..nah..they sound like Wu-Tang members trying to be like the Geto Boys. Sorry, not much of a Wu fanatic. The only person I jam affiliated to the wu is redman.

but if you like that dark/horror rap style, you should mos def check out:

Geto Boys (Pioneers and Legends in the Rap Industry)
Street Military
South Park Coalition

and of course the father of psycho rap, Ganxsta Nip, he was the first rapper EVER to do the horror/psycho sub genre, he produced the Geto Boys first platinum hit. Minds Playin Tricks, i think, dont quote me on that.

Thanks for the infos guys.

I'll check those names and I'll see if I can get some tracks on the Itunes music store (which I doubt but I can give a try).

1. gravediggaz are affiliated with wu, so it's ok if they sound like the wu. rza is in the group for christ's sake.

2. redman is NOT in any way, shape, or form affiliated with wu.

On Topic:

gravediggaz 1st and 2nd albums are sick. the first album has most of it's direction from prince paul while the second album has direction primarily from rza, thus the different sounds of the albums.

i suggest also checking out killah priest's solo album "heavy mental". it's pretty ill. he's a member of gravediggaz.

uh, mobb deep has nothing to do with the wu either. you are an idiot.

anyway, robert:

they came out with 2 albums since the pick, the sickle and the shovel. both suck. one of the dudes died right after their album "nightmare in A minor" was recorded, and god knows what's up with the last "album". it's a disaster. it has barely anything to do with gravediggaz and is a collection of old shitty songs.

another recommendation:

check out killarmy if you haven't already. dope wu-affiliate group.

feel it is my favorite song of theirs. d/l it if you want a taste.

no, i think you're the fuckin character. Mob Deep works with the wu all the time, if you work with someone, you chill with that certain group, you affiliated. Just like the Screwed Up Click...you ain't gotta be in the click just to affiliated, all you gotta do is run wit them boys and you SUC affiliated.

so, according to your logic, all hip-hop artists are affiliated with all other hip-hop artists. that's silly.

True indeed, I regret putting them off for years but a couple months after their second album dropped I picked it up and went back to get the first real quick. I would also recommend picking up the Northstar album.

Anyone remember the name of the "horrorcore" group that had about 3 memebers and dropped a single called "Live Evil" in the early-mid 90s? One of them was rhyming in the video hanging upside down like a bat...in a graveyard I think....?

Killah Priest wasn't in Gravediggaz... Gravediggaz consisted of:
Prince Paul
Too Poetic aka The Grym Reaper (RIP)
Rza aka the Ressurector
Fruitkwon aka Gate Keeper

Too Poetic died shortly before the release of their 3rd album, titled "Nightmare in A Minor" (IMO their best album, despite the fact that its missing Rza and Prince Paul), due to cancer. The energy and passion Too Poetic put into the final album is what really puts it above "Six Feet Deep" for me.

Their second album, "The Pick, the Sickle, and the Shovel" is my least favorite, as Prince Paul did virtually nothing production wise and it was handled by Rza (I like Rza, but that album just wasn't good)

And of course, all of their fans know "Six Feet Deep", which is just awesome and is the only album of theirs to truly feature all 4 members.

They also have an EP with European artist Tricky... and its damn good.

Pick, Sickle, and Shovel is my favorite Gravediggaz stuff by a long shot, even though everyone else seems to not like it.

Very different record in terms of the sound, the concept, and the lyrics. Mostly highly spiritual 5-Percenter stuff. A lot of records like the second one came out around that time (97-98), KP's magnum opus Heavy Mental comes to mind.

For me, I love the second record, but don't particularly like other Gravediggaz material - it was on a much more conscious tip than the horrorcore-style material.
